Pržno lies on the right bank of the Ostravice River. When choosing a hotel, the river landscape, cycling routes, and local architectural history can be useful themes for getting to know the destination. The European Site of Community Importance Řeka Ostravice (CZ0813462) extends through the cadastral area of Pržno; this also includes areas close to the riverbank in the western part of the cadastral area. These two geographical references describe different levels of location: the position on the right bank and the course of the protected area through the cadastral area, including western riverside areas.

River Landscape and Cycling Routes

The Beskydská cycling route passes through Pržno and runs mostly along the Ostravice on paved paths. Both the course of the river and the predominantly paved surface are therefore relevant to this route. Cycling Route 59 connects the Moravian-Silesian Beskids with the city of Ostrava and is 35 km long. The Kraków–Moravia–Vienna Greenways cycling route also passes through Pržno. When choosing a route, you can weigh up the different points of reference: for the Beskydská, the river’s course and the path surface are important; for Route 59, the length and the connection between the Beskids and Ostrava. Greenways is another cycling route that passes through the village.

Chapel and Church

Local cultural highlights include the Chapel of the Virgin Mary and the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. The chapel was built from hewn river stone in 1910. Construction of the church began in June 1909; it was completed and consecrated in May 1910. These buildings offer different ways to explore local history: the chapel is notable for its material and year of construction, while the church has a dated sequence of construction, completion, and consecration. If you are interested in local history, you can explore these two buildings through their distinct historical details.

Sports and Summer by the River

Another specific point to consider when choosing a destination is the multifunctional sports field with artificial turf. It opened in 2018 and is available to both the primary school and the public. The Municipality of Pržno operates the field, which is intended for volleyball, football tennis, handball, small-sided football, tennis, badminton, and ice hockey. In summer, the Ostravice in the vicinity of Pržno is used for swimming and fishing. This gives you two distinct activity options: the municipally operated field and its designated sports, and the seasonal use of the river in the surrounding area.

Railway and Regional Context

Railway line 323 also passes through Pržno. It runs from Ostrava via Frýdek-Místek and Frenštát pod Radhoštěm to Valašské Meziříčí. This route places Pržno within a regional rail connection and complements the geographical references to the river and cycling routes. The towns mentioned also provide further reference points for locating Pržno along the route.
