Pstruží – History, Folk Art and Nature
Accommodation in Pstruží
Pstruží lies on the eastern slope of Ondřejník. Different interests come together here when choosing a destination: local history and folk art, nature topics along the Skalka nature trail, and skiing and cycling activities under the name Opálená. The specific details range from historical dates to slope lengths and facilities for children.
History and Folk Art
The first documented mention of the village dates back to 1581; Pstruží was then listed in the registers of the Hukvaldy estate. Another specific date in the village’s history is 1834, when an enamelling factory was founded on the Ondřejnice stream. These two dates mark different historical points of reference—the mention in a register and the founding of an industrial business. Anyone interested in Pstruží’s development can therefore find both an early historical reference point and a milestone in its industrial history.
The local folk art tradition includes works made from wood, enamel and ceramics. This range of materials offers a different perspective on the village than the historical dates: it points to artistic work in a variety of materials.
Nature along the Skalka Nature Trail
The Skalka nature trail presents the natural features of Skalka and its surroundings on ten information boards. Nature and local history therefore offer different topics to help you decide what interests you about Pstruží: the trail focuses on the landscape, while the historical dates mark the village’s development.
Sports Activities
The Opálená Ski Area lies on the northeastern slope of Ondřejník, on the shared border between Pstruží and Čeladná. The downhill runs can be distinguished by their length and designated level: the red ski slope is 500 metres long and intended for advanced skiers; the blue ski slope is 300 metres long and intended for skiers with intermediate skills. There is also a 500-metre snow park for experienced snowboarders and skiers, as well as a 150-metre children’s park. Your choice can therefore take into account both the length of each run and its intended use and target group. As facilities may change, check the operator’s current information before your visit.
Opálená Bike Park has a children’s trail and a children’s pump track. It also offers bicycle rentals for children and adults. The sports activities therefore have different features to consider: the Ski Area lists run lengths and skill levels, while the bike park has specific features for children and rentals for both age groups. Rental availability may change; check before your visit.
Practical Information
There is a pastry shop in the centre of Pstruží. Its operating status and opening hours may change, so check both before planning a visit.
