Ropice lies in the broad valley of the Ropičanka River in the Podbeskydí region. One shared route is useful for finding your way on foot and by bicycle: it connects the town of Třinec with Český Těšín via the Nebory district, passing through Ropice. The route therefore runs through several named places and includes Ropice along its way.

Behind Ropice Castle, the route connects to cycle route 46 from Jihlava to Český Těšín. The two points of reference differ: the shared route connects Třinec, Nebory, Ropice and Český Těšín; for cycle route 46, the route number, endpoints and connection behind the castle are the key details. When planning your route, you can therefore distinguish between the connection through Ropice and the link to cycle route 46.

Castle and church architecture

Ropice Castle was remodelled in the Neoclassical style in 1810. The listed ensemble also includes a castle park and the dam of the castle pond. The castle building, park and pond dam are therefore all part of the same protected site.

The Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Ropice was built in 1806 on the site of the Baroque Church of St Catherine, which was constructed between 1733 and 1736. The location remained the same, while the church building changed. The two construction periods trace the church’s history across several decades.

In 2019, the chapel on the right in the cemetery by the church was repaired with new interior and exterior plaster, as well as a stone facing. This dated restoration adds a specific structural intervention on a single cemetery building to the history of the area.

Golf and views of the Beskids

The Ropice Golf Resort has a 27-hole complex, which was expanded by a further nine holes in 2023. Both professional and less experienced players can play golf there. The size of the facility and the player groups mentioned provide different points of reference if golf is a factor in planning your trip.

The golf course offers panoramic views of the Silesian Beskids massif, dominated by Javorový vrch. This brings together two different interests under the theme of golf: the sport at the resort and views of the named mountain massif. If you choose Ropice with golf in mind, you can take this view into account alongside the size of the facility.

Travel by train

Ropice has a stop on the main Bohumín–Jablunkov–Žilina railway line. The rail connection is another point of reference alongside the castle’s history, the golf offering, and the walking and cycling connections.
