Vršovice connects the heights of the Nízký Jeseník with forests, marked trails and several chapels. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip here, these themes can help you decide what to focus on during your stay: scenery and views, a specific trail, cycling or historic sites. Depending on whether you want to focus more on scenery and trails or on chapels and memorial sites, Vršovice offers a range of thematic points of interest.

Landscape between Opava and Šance

Vršovice lies on the slopes of the Nízký Jeseník. Elevations range from 276 m in the fields towards Opava to 525 m at the summit of Šance. Much of the cadastral area is covered by forests; Vršovice is also part of Moravice Nature Park. Fields, wooded areas and the summit of Šance therefore shape the area’s landscape. Those who include nature and the surroundings in their travel plans will find both a named elevation and specific trails and a viewpoint here.

Trails and cycling

The Vršovická pohádková stezka offers a specific route: it is about 1.5 km long and runs across the meadows of Vršovice, from the last houses towards the forester’s lodge. It ends at the playground above the Vršovice kindergarten. Its length, route and endpoint provide a clear framework for planning.

The Raduň–Jakubčovice educational trail has a different focus. It includes a stop at the forester’s lodge near Vršovice, 4 km from Raduň. Its three information panels cover the plane crash, its crew and the Liberator B-24 aircraft. Thus, the Vršovická pohádková stezka is defined by its approximate length and endpoint, while the educational trail focuses on a named stop and a historical topic.

There are also two points of reference for cycling: marked cycle route No. 6055 runs through Branka u Opavy, Chvalíkovice, Vršovice and Raduň. Vršovice is also part of the “Údolí Raduňky a okolí” cycle network. The first detail identifies a numbered route and the sequence of places it passes through; the second names the cycle network that includes Vršovice.

Chapels, views and local history

The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of the Lord was built in 1909 and reconstructed in 2001. During Advent, it is festively illuminated. Its construction date, later reconstruction and seasonal lighting highlight different aspects of the chapel.

The wooden Chapel of Panny Marie sedmibolestné stands on Brdlice and was consecrated in 1949. The chapel offers views of the surrounding area and Opava; on a clear day, the Jeseníky Mountains are also visible. Next to it, a monument erected in 1924 commemorates those who fell in the First World War. This site brings together a chapel, a viewpoint and a war memorial.

The Chapel of Panny Marie Bolestné in Vršovice is an immovable cultural monument. It stands on the access road from the direction of Chvalíkovice, beneath centuries-old lime trees. Its roadside location and the old lime trees give this cultural monument a distinct connection to the place.
