Bílovice-Lutotín can be explored through its natural and cultural heritage. Na Hůrkách, the prehistoric fortification Hrad u Bílovic, and the chapels and rural buildings in Bílovice and Lutotín represent different aspects of the destination. The landscape, archaeological features and local history can thus be understood through specific characteristics.

Natural monument and marked trail route

The protected natural monument Na Hůrkách covers 5.4804 hectares; the area also includes land in Bílovice-Lutotín. Its protected status and precisely defined area give the natural heritage a clear connection to the place. Another nature-related highlight is the “Stezky k Bílovskému hradu” project: in 2020, it created a marked trail route through the area. As part of the project, information panels on local flora, fauna and geology were installed along the route, and four rest areas were set up. Before visiting, check the current condition of the route, panels and rest areas.

Hrad u Bílovic

Hrad u Bílovic is a prehistoric fortified site on a spur of land above the Romže River. A massive rampart and two ditches remain. The site’s position above the river and its fortification remains offer two different perspectives: its topographical setting and its architectural form. If you are interested in prehistoric fortifications, it is this combination of landform and surviving structural traces that makes the site particularly interesting.

Haná architecture and chapels

The Hanácký žudr in Bílovice is a rare example of rural folk architecture: a brick Haná farmhouse with outbuildings, a vaulted entrance hall and a granary on the upper floor. The building was erected in the 18th century. The entrance hall and granary show different parts of the farmstead, while the outbuildings complete the picture of this rural structure. This makes it possible to understand the žudr not only in terms of its date, but also through its specific architectural layout.

You can compare the dates associated with the chapels directly. The Chapel of St. Florian in Bílovice was consecrated in 1782. In Lutotín, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary dates from 1808, and the Chapel of St. Anne from 1822. The year 1782 refers to the consecration, while 1808 and 1822 are the dates of the chapels themselves. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary once housed a rare wooden statue of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Local history

The first written mention of Bílovice dates from 1305. Another historical date is 1919, when the Lutotín railway stop was established on the line from Prostějov towards Konice and onward to Chornice in the Pardubický Region. The early written history of Bílovice and the establishment of the Lutotín stop thus provide distinct historical reference points.
