Císařov combines village history with religious sculptures, rural architecture and a marked cycling route. The village is set in the landscape of Haná. This offers different focal points for planning a trip: the village layout and historic buildings provide points of interest for those interested in cultural history, while cycling route No. 5042 is a practical reference for cyclists. You can decide which of these perspectives will shape your stay according to your interest in history, architecture or a bike ride.

The village’s founding and historic settlement pattern

In 1785, Císařov was established as a new municipality with 50 building plots. The newly emerging municipality was originally intended to be called Joseflust. When it was laid out, two rows of houses were built facing each other, running from northwest to southeast and spaced equally apart throughout. These details make the founding tangible through more than just a year and a number: the rows of houses also describe the spatial form of the early municipality. The proposed name Joseflust is likewise part of the history of the village’s founding, as the original intention. For travellers interested in how a village came into being, the year, number of plots, arrangement of the rows and intended name offer different ways of exploring the same early period in Císařov’s history.

Sculptures and rural architecture

The statue of Saint Anne with the Virgin Mary and Child stands on the village square in front of house No. 6. This monumental late Baroque sculpture is dated 1795. A statue of Our Lady of Lourdes was erected in Císařov in 1900. The date of the statue of Saint Anne is ten years after the municipality was founded in 1785; the statue of Mary extends the timeline to 1900. Together, the two sculptures offer insight into religious sculpture at different points in the village’s history.

Farmstead No. 45 is a rural building dating from the late 18th century and is listed as a cultural monument. It is a single-storey residential building with a covered passageway and an outbuilding for retired farm workers. The façade facing the village square is decorated with original stucco plasterwork. Whereas the statues can be understood through their sculptural form and dates, the farmstead stands out for its architectural form and façade decoration. Religious sculpture and rural architecture thus emerge as different ways of exploring Císařov’s cultural history.

Cycling route and pond landscape

Marked cycling route No. 5042 connects Prostějov and Přerov via Císařov. This gives cyclists a practical reference point for placing the village on the route between the two cities. In the northern part of Císařov, visitors can see a cascade of ponds with protected animal species along this route. The cycling route connects the cities, while the pond cascade adds a landscape feature within the municipality. Check current route conditions before setting off, as they may change.
