Hlásnice: Nature, Trails and History
Accommodation in Hlásnice
Hlásnice lies at the foot of the Nízký Jeseník. Sovinecko Nature Park covers almost the entire area of Hlásnice and shapes the village’s landscape. Nature, trails and local culture therefore feature alongside local history when planning a trip. Hlásnice was first mentioned in writing in 1371. If you are planning a stay here, you can focus on nature and cultural highlights according to your own interests.
Nature and Views
Dančák Pond is located on elevated ground above Hlásnice, at an altitude of about 400 m. From there, the view extends across the surrounding landscape, especially south toward the Morava Valley and Olomouc. The area around the pond is used for short breaks and relaxation. Hlásnice also has numerous paths and trails for walks in the surrounding countryside. A viewpoint with named distant vistas and walks offer different ways to experience the landscape.
Cycling and Hiking
The “Do hlubin věků” cycling route passes through Hlásnice. The circuit runs via Šternberk, Babice, Mladějovice, Komárov, Řídeč, Mutkov and Chabičov before returning to Šternberk. The route alternates between paved roads and unpaved forest tracks. Check the route and trail conditions locally before setting out, as they can change seasonally.
A blue-marked hiking route runs along the edge of the cadastral area in a northwest–southeast direction. It starts at Mladějovice railway station, passes through Řídeč, Vysoká Roudná, Dubová hora and Chabičov, goes past Hlásnice and continues via Dolní Žleb to Šternberk. Check the current waymarking before your hike. The two routes differ in their layout: the cycling route is described as a circuit, while the hiking route starts in Mladějovice and continues to Šternberk.
Chapel and Events
The Chapel of St. George has memorial plaques bearing the names of victims of the First and Second World Wars. Masses are held there regularly from spring through autumn. If you would like to attend a service, check the current times in advance.
Regular events in Hlásnice include the St. George’s pilgrimage and the Jarní běh Hlásničák spring run. A summer Kubb tournament is also held regularly. Dates may vary from year to year, so check the event dates for your planned travel period.
Getting Around and Recreation in the Village
Hlásnice lies mostly along the II/445 Šternberk–Huzová–Rýmařov road, which connects the village with Šternberk. This describes the village’s road location but does not provide an exact travel time.
Hlásnice has a children’s playground with play equipment for younger and older children, as well as fitness equipment for teenagers and adults. The surface of the multi-purpose sports court was renewed in 2018. Together with the trails, cycling route and recurring events, these facilities add local recreational options to the village’s nature and cultural attractions.
