You can get to know Klokočí through its routes as well as its history and local customs. Two different routes are especially useful for planning: cycle route No. 6173 through the village, and the green hiking trail, with stops along the Bečva, at the Bukoveček Nature Reserve and in the valley of the Krkavec stream. There is also a historic farmhouse, a small wooden bell tower and local events. You can plan your stay around whether cycling, hiking or local history is your main interest.

Plan Cycling and Hiking

Cycle route No. 6173 runs through Klokočí towards the last foothills of the Oderské vrchy and on to Radíkov and Středolesí. The green hiking trail follows a different route: it passes through Klokočí, crosses the Bečva, goes past the Bukoveček Nature Reserve and continues through the valley of the Krkavec stream to Teplice nad Bečvou. Choosing a route therefore depends both on your mode of transport and on your specific destinations: the cycle route heads towards the places listed, while the river, nature reserve and stream valley shape the hiking trail.

From Teplice nad Bečvou, the same green hiking trail continues to the Hranická propast, described as the deepest chasm in Central Europe. You can plan the section through Klokočí and the continuation from Teplice as successive parts of the same trail. Check local trail conditions before setting out.

For a break, try the U Jarky restaurant in the centre of Klokočí, which offers refreshments to cyclists and hikers before they continue on their way. If you plan to stop there, check the current opening hours in advance.

Local History and Traditions

The village’s history also offers specific points of interest. One of the oldest buildings in Klokočí is an old farmhouse in a square, enclosed layout. It belonged to Countess Antonii Althanová until 1923. As a counterpoint to the route-related attractions, the farmhouse brings together its architectural form and ownership history: its square, enclosed layout sits alongside its former association with the countess. A small wooden bell tower has been preserved in the village; check its current condition locally before visiting.

One local custom is Vodění medvěda: the Klokočí Volunteer Fire Brigade holds the traditional procession, in which a bear dances at residents’ doors. The procession is an annual tradition. If you would like to experience it, plan your trip around the specific announcement and event date.

At Klokočské srandobraní 2023, the local tradition was revived after an interruption of several years; that edition also included horseback rides. The distinction is useful for planning: Vodění medvěda is annual, while the horseback rides were part of the 2023 edition of Klokočské srandobraní.
