Those interested in culture can explore the architectural history of a chapel dedicated to Saint Florian and the First World War remembrance site.

Natural Monuments and Landscape

The U Strejčkova lomu Natural Monument protects the habitat of the large-flowered pasqueflower (Pulsatilla grandis), a species of European importance, as well as other xerothermic and sub-xerothermic grassland and herb communities. The protected features therefore include both a notable plant species and its vegetation communities. The technical terms refer to different types of dry, warm habitats. If you are interested in plants and nature conservation, this habitat offers a specific point of interest.

The Cigánské zmoly Natural Monument lies within the cadastral area of Krčmaň. U Bílých hlin lies near Krčmaň on a gently sloping, southeast-facing slope. The two sites are therefore described in different ways: for Cigánské zmoly, by its cadastral designation; for U Bílých hlin, by its topographic position and slope aspect. This comparison helps you understand the different landscape features of the sites.

U Strejčkova lomu can be reached from Grygov railway station via a green-marked trail that includes a section along a field track in the direction of Krčmaň. The starting point, trail marking, and route type give you specific information to help plan your trip. Check local trail conditions before setting out. If you would like to include this natural site in your stay, you can use the route description as a guide.

Chapel and Remembrance

The history of Kostel sv. Floriána dates back to a wooden chapel built in 1708 and dedicated to Saint Florian. After this earlier chapel burned down, a new, solidly built chapel was erected on the site in 1744. In 1851, the chapel underwent extensive repairs. This sequence distinguishes the original wooden building, the replacement built after the fire, and the later repairs. Its dedication to Saint Florian dates back to the original wooden chapel and is therefore part of its early history.

Borek was planted by men from Krčmaň who had returned from the First World War. It was intended to recall the difficult times at the front and also to commemorate those who fell and did not return. This story places the experiences of the returning men alongside the remembrance of the fallen. The memorial at Borek thus adds a different historical focus to the architectural history of Kostel sv. Floriána.
