Loučka between the Haná Plain and the Highlands
Accommodation in Loučka
Landscape between Haná and the Highlands
Loučka lies at the beginning of the Bouzovská vrchovina, where the fertile Haná Plain gives way to the emerging highlands. The Loučka stream flows directly through the municipality, while the Cholinka rises south of the village. Forests and an aquatic habitat shape the surrounding area. Together, these features give Loučka a distinct landscape setting between the plain, the highlands and waterways.
For visitors interested in nature, several local features stand out: the stream within the municipality, the source of the Cholinka to the south, and the forests and aquatic habitat nearby. Recreational fishing is possible at the Loučka pond under the auspices of the local angling club. Check the local conditions before taking part.
Historical traces in the village
The T. G. Masaryk monument is a notable landmark in the village’s history. It was unveiled on 5 August 1919. The monument features a life-size sandstone bust on a truncated granite pyramid. The details of the bust and pedestal give the monument a distinctive form, setting it apart from Loučka’s other historic sites.
Its history also includes the Protectorate period: local Sokol members dismantled the monument and hid the bust in the village well. It was recovered in July 1945. The unveiling and recovery mark different chapters in the history of this memorial.
The Chapel of John the Baptist was built in 1838 on the site of an earlier wooden bell tower. A plaque at the chapel commemorates those who fell in both world wars. In front of it stands a stone cross with the body of Christ crucified. The building’s history, the act of remembrance and the religious imagery each shape this place in a different way.
Other local monuments include the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius and a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. These additional religious memorials complement the Masaryk monument and the Chapel of John the Baptist, adding further aspects to the village’s history.
Cycling and recreation
The Bouzov–Olomouc cycling route passes through Loučka. A route description published in 2013 gives a distance of just under 42 kilometres, rates it as moderately difficult and says it is suitable for trekking bikes. Cycling Route No. 6025, Olomouc–Bouzov, runs through the centre of Loučka. The details provide different points of reference for planning a ride: one gives the distance, difficulty and suitable bike type, while the other describes the route through the village centre. Check the current signage and surface conditions before setting off.
