Náklo lies in the flat landscape at the heart of Haná and is considered a typical Haná village. This combination of landscape and regional culture offers two distinct perspectives on a stay: at Pískovna, the rules for swimming, fishing and water sports take center stage; in the village, the church, dialect and recurring events shape the cultural impression. When planning, it is worth considering these topics separately, as different conditions apply to activities on the water.

Water at Pískovna: Different Rules Apply

Swimming is permitted only in designated areas and at your own risk. Since the lake is still within a mining area, check local restrictions before your visit. Sport fishing is subject to its own rules: it is possible year-round in designated areas; check permits and regulations before your trip. Water sports are possible only with the mining company’s approval. The year-round availability applies to sport fishing, not generally to every use of the lake.

Route and Directions

The regional tourist route “Z Litovle do Hanáckého skanzenu v Příkazech” passes through Náklo. It is connected to cycle route 6027 and is also signposted as Lesánkova NS. To find your way, it helps to distinguish between these names: the route describes the journey from Litovel to the Haná open-air museum in Příkazy, while cycle route 6027 and Lesánkova NS refer to the connections and signposting also mentioned. Náklo is part of the described route.

Kostel sv. Jiří and the History of the Village

Kostel sv. Jiří stands on elevated ground in the center of Náklo, where a castle once stood. The stone Renaissance church has a Gothic core—its description therefore combines features from different building periods. It was built between 1696 and 1698 on the site of an older structure; the Premonstratensians of Hradisko covered the costs. This site thus brings together the earlier predecessor and the church built in the late 17th century. The grounds also include a perimeter wall and a gate around the former cemetery. These details add the historic enclosure to the picture of the church building.

Haná Culture and Events

Language is also part of the region’s character: Náklo is one of the places where the increasingly rare Haná dialect can still be heard. Together with the flat landscape at the heart of Haná, this creates a picture that encompasses both the surroundings and the village’s cultural character. Vítání jara takes place in March as part of the recurring cultural calendar. If you would like to include this spring event in your plans, check the dates for the relevant year.

Toward the end of the year, the Náklo seniors’ club prepares an exhibition of Christmas baked goods. For this recurring local tradition, confirm public access for the relevant year. The two calendar events therefore differ not only by season: Vítání jara takes place in March, while access to the exhibition can be checked for the specific date.
