In Bělkovice-Lašťany, local history and leisure go hand in hand: chapels, monuments, and a long-standing tradition form the cultural focus, complemented by a swimming pool, sports facilities, a fitness trail, and a cycle path. When planning your stay, you can decide whether historic sites or specific opportunities for exercise better suit your interests. The dates range from early chapels to more recent renovation and infrastructure works, providing a timeline for the different themes.

Culture and local history

The old Ježíškovy matičky procession tradition has been documented in Bělkovice-Lašťany since around 1848. It welcomed spring and celebrated the Resurrection of Christ. The tradition takes place separately in the districts of Lašťany and Bělkovice. Since 2018, it has been listed under the name “Velikonoční slavnosti Matiček a Ježíškových Matiček na Hané Olomoucký kraj” in the Czech Republic’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Traditional Folk Culture. The two dates serve different purposes: around 1848 marks the documented beginning of the tradition, while 2018 is the year it was added to the national list.

The chapels can also be distinguished by their names, dates, and architectural details. The Chapel of Panny Marie Čenstochovské on the road to Dolany dates from 1710 and was completely reconstructed in 2017. The Chapel of Panny Marie Lurdské dates from 1820; above its entrance is a 30 cm-tall porcelain statue of the Virgin Mary. The Chapel of sv. Floriána by the pond dates from 1802. Its roof features a small bell tower with a bell. The statue above the entrance stands out at Panny Marie Lurdské, while the small rooftop bell tower is a distinctive feature of sv. Floriána.

The statue of Jan Žižka in Lašťany was renovated in 2017. The monument to Jan Žižka of Trocnov by the pond in Lašťany was ceremonially unveiled on 29 June 1924. Lašťany is therefore associated with Jan Žižka both through a renovation and through a precisely dated historic event.

Swimming and exercise

Koupaliště Bělkovice-Lašťany has a large swimming pool measuring 50 m × 20 m and a children’s pool measuring 19.5 m × 7.5 m. There are also two artificial-turf courts for small-sided football, nohejbal, and tennis. A reservation system is in place for small-sided football on the artificial-turf court; check the current conditions before making a reservation. The pool dimensions and the named sports offer specific points of reference if you want to make swimming or ball games the focus of your leisure plans.

The exercise options include both a dedicated place to work out and a cycling connection: behind the sports field is a fitness trail with nine exercise stations, and the cycle path leads to Dolany. In 2019, the dedicated road and cycle path from Bělkovice-Lašťany to Dolany were completed. Tourists can use the cycle path without conflicting with public traffic.

The surrounding landscape

Nearby is Bělkovické údolí, considered a recreational area with beautiful natural scenery. The valley provides a landscape attraction alongside the specific buildings and sports facilities. Bělkovice-Lašťany thus offers a variety of themes to explore, from its chapels and historic tradition to its swimming pools, sports facilities, and nearby natural surroundings.
