Seloutky can be explored for trip planning through two areas of interest: the history of the village and the landscape around the wooded Chlum. The municipality lies east of the last foothills of the Drahanská vrchovina and on the western edge of the Hornomoravský úval. Chlum reaches 412 metres and is the highest point in Seloutky’s cadastral area. If you are looking for a hotel in Seloutky, these themes can help you choose a destination: historic sites on the one hand, and the nature monument and wooded ridge on the other.

Landscape, Chlum and the Nature Monument

The wooded Chlum is one of several peaks on the mostly forested Záhoří Ridge. As the highest point in the cadastral area, it provides a specific elevation reference; the description of the ridge, by contrast, encompasses a broader landscape with several peaks. The protected Dolní Vinohrádky Nature Monument adds to this landscape setting. It preserves populations of warmth-loving plants, their plant communities and the animals associated with them. The focus here, then, is not on elevation or woodland, but on conserving these warmth-loving communities—a different natural feature from the wooded ridge.

At Špičáková skála, the Seloutky municipal office had a wooden viewing pavilion with seating built in the early 21st century. If you include this spot in your plans, check the condition of the pavilion on site before planning a visit.

Chapels and local history

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Seloutky was completed in autumn 1802 and dedicated to this patronage the following year. The Chapel of Saint Sebastian stands above Seloutky on a gentle slope below Všetičkova skála. It was not yet marked on an 1834 map; by 1836, it was already standing. The two chapels are therefore dated differently: the completion and dedication dates are known for the Chapel of the Assumption, while the existence of the Chapel of Saint Sebastian is documented by 1836 at the latest.

The war memorial in Seloutky was ceremonially unveiled on 26 August 1928 during a gathering of people from the village. The earliest written record of Seloutky dates from 1325. These dates mark different milestones in the village’s history: an early written record, the completion and dedication of a chapel, and the unveiling of the memorial.

A cultural connection reaching as far as Olomouc

A Renaissance chalice from Seloutky dates from 1538 and is displayed at the Archdiocesan Museum in Olomouc. If you are planning a museum visit, check beforehand whether the chalice is on display there. This helps distinguish this cultural attraction in Olomouc from the historic sites in Seloutky.

The Panelka route

The 800-metre-long “Panelka” route connects Prostějov with the Domamyslice district and the municipality of Seloutky, then continues towards Záhoří. The length refers to the route itself; the places mentioned and its continuation indicate its geographical setting. For your trip planning, this is a different point of reference from the chapels and war memorial: Panelka represents a direct connection between the places mentioned, while the historic sites offer insight into Seloutky’s history.
