If you are looking for hotels in Sobíšky, the town’s history can be a helpful guide when choosing your destination: chapels, historic architectural styles and regional culture give your stay a clear theme. Sobíšky was first mentioned in writing in a document dated November 3, 1275. Historically, the village was also the center of the self-governing Půhončí community.

Chapels and local architectural history

The Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua was built in 1660 by the judge Jan Pavlíček and is designed in the Baroque style. A comprehensive restoration included the altar, benches on both sides and the choir. Services are held in the chapel only for the Feast of Saint Anthony on June 13. A restored statue of Saint Augustine stands on a pedestal beside the chapel.

Other local architectural features are also clearly distinct. Drbalova Chapel, now called Kolářova Chapel, stands on the road to Lazníky. Jarošova Chapel stands on the road to Zábeštní Lhota, near the highest point in the municipal area. At the Půhončí house at No. 14, a partikus has been preserved on the façade: a column-supported entrance hall with a flat ceiling. The technical term describes a specific architectural element and adds another detail of local architectural design to the chapels.

Castle, lime kiln and event date

Bašta is a cylindrical stone lime kiln below the transformer station near “Dvůr.” Dvůrů Castle stands above Sobíšky; its present form dates from 1842. The dates are easy to distinguish: 1660 marks the construction of the Chapel of Saint Anthony, while 1842 refers to the castle’s present form. As a lime kiln, Bašta adds another example of local architectural and industrial history.

The Hody in Sobíšky are scheduled for June 11–13, 2027. June 13 is also the Feast of Saint Anthony, when services are held in the chapel. This gives you a specific calendar reference when planning your travel dates. Check the Hody dates again closer to your visit.

Regional connections

Beyond its local buildings, Sobíšky is part of the Pobečví microregion. The Jantarová stezka long-distance cycle route passes through the microregion; from this route, other interesting trails lead toward the Oderské vrchy and Hostýnské vrchy. These routes place Sobíšky in its wider regional context, while the chapels and Bašta are specific local landmarks.

An iROZHLAS report dated October 6, 2025, lists the Sobíšky cadastral area as one of two officially recognized wine-growing locations in the Olomouc Region. The wine-growing designation applies to the cadastral area, while the cycle routes extend across the wider region.
