Stavenice offers several specific topics to help with travel planning: the Hradisko-Hradiště archaeological site, religious artworks in the municipality, protected areas in the Doubrava area, and a short section of cycle route 51. These different aspects can help you consider Stavenice in light of your own interests before looking for a hotel for your stay.

Hradisko-Hradiště: Location and History

Hradisko-Hradiště, also known as U Josefa, lies on Hradisko Hill above the left bank of the Morava River. The site is in Doubrava Forest and within the cadastral area of Stavenice. Archaeological finds date Hradisko-Hradiště to the 10th century; pottery finds also indicate that the site was in use in the second half of the 13th century. The two dates refer to different evidence: the earlier one concerns archaeological finds, while the later one concerns the site's use.

Religious artworks in the municipality

The stone cross near house No. 48 is a unique folk sculpture in the Empire style, dating from 1816; it was restored in 2009. The crucifix with Christ is complemented by a Madonna with two angels and a relief of Saint Mary Magdalene. The date of creation and the restoration mark two different stages in the history of the work.

The Boží muka in the western part of Stavenice stand between houses No. 1 and 40. They date from the late 18th century and were restored in 2011. They are exceptional in size and striking in design. Their appearance therefore differs from the figures and relief on the stone cross.

In the Chapel of St. Florian, a painting of Saint Florian hangs above the altar. The municipality thus features different forms of religious art side by side: a sculpture with several figures, the exceptionally large Boží muka, and a painting above the altar.

Cycle route 51 through the Stavenice area

The short section of cycle route 51 on road III/31540 passes through the Stavenice area towards Třeština. The route connects, among other places, Mohelnice and Třeština. For orientation, it is worth distinguishing the short section within the municipality from the route's longer course: the first statement concerns the section on the road, while the second concerns the connection between the towns. Road conditions and signage may change; check them before setting out.
