This can help you decide while planning your trip whether local history, nature or a particular date matters most to you. For events, the year of the respective programme is important; details from one edition should not automatically be applied to a later date.

Church and dated crosses

The parish church of Nanebevstoupení Páně in Cotkytle is first mentioned in 1350. It was completely rebuilt in 1726 and dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. These details mark two distinct periods in its history: the church’s early mention and its later rebuilding and dedication. A stone cross was erected by the church in 1797. Another stone cross in Cotkytle was erected around the turn of 1856/1857. An iron cross on a stone plinth was also erected near Cotkytle in 1883. The dates place the crosses in the 18th and 19th centuries, while the parish church’s first mention dates back further.

Protected areas in Herbortice

The V dole nature reserve lies in the valley of the Hraniční potok in Herbortice, a district of the municipality of Cotkytle. The Selský potok natural monument is located in the cadastral area of Herbortice. The names therefore refer to two different protected areas and locations: V dole is associated with the valley of the Hraniční potok, while Selský potok is associated with the Herbortice cadastral area. If you include nature in your trip planning, you can distinguish between these two areas by their respective names and locations.

Events and specific editions

Sraz rodáků a přátel obce is a gathering of former residents and friends of the municipality. The 2024 municipal bulletin described it as an annual event. At the 2024 gathering, the NOA band played music for listening and dancing throughout the day and evening. These musical programme details relate to the 2024 edition; check future dates separately.

Poslední leč was also described as an annual tradition in 2024. The programme for that edition included game specialities, dancing to the Méďa Band and a raffle. These details offer a glimpse of the 2024 programme, not what to expect at a later event. When planning a future visit, check the date of the event in question.

A pilgrimage programme in Cotkytle on 14 and 15 May 2022 included a dance evening, refreshments at the cultural centre and children’s attractions. These details relate to the two specific event days in 2022. Here, too, the date matters when distinguishing historical programme details from current trip planning.

The Pochod Viliama Havrdy was first held in 2023 and took place for the second time in 2024 as an organised march between Cotkytle and the chapel in Janoušov. The first edition in 2023 was advertised as an 8 km route with refreshments available. This distance and the refreshments relate to the first edition; for future editions, check the date and route details separately.

A 2024 notice described the cycling tour to a fishery in the Polish border region, organised by TJ Cotkytle, as an annual event, with the exception of one Covid year. Check the dates before travelling if you would like to include this event in your plans. Alongside local history and protected areas, there are also specific events, some recurring, whose respective years are important when making your choices.
