Accommodation in Jamne Nad Orlici
Jamne Nad Orlici brings together a valley landscape, local history and cycling routes. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, these different features may play a role in choosing your destination.
Landscape and Village Setting
The village lies in the eastern part of the Orlické Mountains, below Suchý vrch. Its settlements are spread along both steep slopes of the Jamenský potok valley. In the lower part, the stream flows into the Tichá Orlice. As a result, both the hillside locations and the course of the waterways shape the local landscape. The Church of the Holy Trinity stands in the center of Jamne Nad Orlici, above the school, and serves as a prominent landmark in the village.
Church and Memorial Sites
Mons. Dominik Filip was one of the most significant benefactors of the Church of the Holy Trinity and is buried in the local cemetery. František Filip, known as Bezruký Frantík, was born in Jamne Nad Orlici in 1904. A memorial plaque to him is located at the school. In Parčík Bezrukého Frantíka, which opened in 2024, there is a sculpture of Frantík created by Jan Šebek. The church, cemetery, memorial plaque and sculpture reflect different aspects of the village’s history.
A specially made bench is still kept at the municipal office so that František Filip could learn to write with his foot. If you would like to see the bench, contact the municipal office in advance to ask whether a visit is possible. The site known as U tisu is also maintained and has an information board; check the site’s condition before your visit.
Cycling and Winter Routes
Cycling Route No. 4074 leads from Jablonné nad Orlicí towards Jamne Nad Orlici. At the water station in the village, it enters the forest; this is where the route’s most challenging climb lies. The character of the route may change depending on trail conditions. If you are planning to ride this route, take the climb and possible trail conditions into account when planning your trip.
Jiráskova cesta is described as a long-distance cycling route or ridge route through Jamne Nad Orlici. In winter, the groomed cross-country ski trails connect to the ski loops in Čenkovice; their seasonal availability depends on snow conditions. If you are planning a winter outing, it is advisable to check current snow conditions. A competition at Jamenský kopec also has specific course details: in the 2022 event, 24 cyclists set out to conquer the 3.6 km climb with 225 meters of elevation gain.
Events and Dates
Staročeské posvícení takes place every five years on the last Sunday in October. The program includes a masked procession and the threshing of the rooster Martin as a “sinner.” The festival therefore follows a clear but non-annual schedule. If you would like to plan your stay around it, check the specific date before your trip.
The traditional event “Stezka odvahy” took place on October 3, 2020, and November 2, 2024. These two dates offer a historical glimpse of local events without implying a future date.
