Lubník – Landscape, History and Village Life
Accommodation in Lubník
Lubník lies in the rolling landscape in the eastern part of the Podorlická pahorkatina uplands. The Lubnický potok, one of the smaller left-bank tributaries of the Moravská Sázava, flows through the village. For a tributary, “left bank” means the side where it joins the main river when you look in the direction the river flows. This connects the stream both to the village and to a wider network of waterways.
Landscape and Historical Traces
At the edge of the forest, a surviving boundary stone marks the former provincial border. Together with the Lubnický potok, it offers two different perspectives on Lubník: the stream is part of the local landscape, while the stone points to the area’s former territorial history.
A municipal notice dated 30 July 2026 introduces a new bilingual Czech-German plaque at the cemetery cross. It commemorates former residents of Lubník who were laid to rest in the cemetery.
Also on 30 July 2026, the municipality reported on a restored marble cross dating from 1922 for the local cemetery. The five-part cross is considered a small sacred monument of the municipality, crafted to a high standard. Check on site whether it has since been installed.
Church of St Peter and Paul
The Church of St Peter and Paul is a rural, single-nave Empire-style church dating from 1835, with a small tower above the façade. It was built to replace a wooden structure at the expense of the owners of the estate, the Liechtensteins. A single-nave church has one main nave; the term describes its spatial layout, while Empire style refers to its architectural classification. The construction date, predecessor building and funding offer different clues for understanding the sacred building and its origins.
Events Throughout the Year
The traditional Lubnická pouť is held to welcome summer and the approaching summer holidays, and takes place every year. Its dates vary from year to year. A Sunday football match is part of the tradition, with Lubník playing a team from Cotkytle; the teams and schedule may change.
The 2023 edition included children’s attractions such as a chair-o-plane, a boat pool and a shooting gallery. Later programmes may differ.
At Vinné ladění on 15 May 2026, the Poklady z Moravy wine shop presented 30 to 40 wine samples at a public tasting. The CML cimbalom band from Šumperk provided the musical accompaniment. These programme details refer to this edition; future formats may vary.
The two events differ in timing: the Lubnická pouť returns every year on varying dates, while the details given for Vinné ladění refer to 15 May 2026. If you are planning to travel for the pouť, check the date for the year you have in mind.
