Accommodation in Orličky
Orličky lies along the upper course of the Orlička stream. Local history and streamside scenery sit alongside scenic views and cross-country skiing, which depends on snow conditions, as distinct themes to consider when planning a trip.
Church and local history
The church in Orličky is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. Its foundation stone was laid on 18 September 1775, and the church was completed on 11 October 1778. A little over three years passed between the laying of the foundation stone and the church’s completion. The church provides a dated reference point for local history, while the historic logging settlement represents a different aspect of the area’s character.
Historically, Orličky was a logging settlement; glassmaking may also have taken place there. These two aspects give local history different emphases: forestry is identified as a defining feature of the settlement, while glassmaking remains a possibility.
Streamside scenery and trails
Near Orličky, a trail follows the Orlička stream to the Hradiska valley, which is enclosed by rocks on both sides. The stream and the rocky valley offer two distinct landscape impressions. If you are planning an excursion in the area, Hradiska is a specific destination along the trail.
Views and cross-country skiing by season
Rozhledna Suchý vrch is a 33-metre-high concrete observation tower. Its viewing platform is 22 metres above the ground and can be reached via 128 steps. These figures describe different aspects: the structure’s total height, the platform’s height and the number of steps to climb. The tower is open year-round and is a hiking destination in summer. Check the current opening hours before your visit. The tower’s total height is eleven metres greater than the height of its platform.
Červenovodské sedlo is one of the main starting points for cross-country ski trails. Depending on snow conditions, between 50 and 80 kilometres of trails are groomed in the Buková hora–Suchý vrch ski area. Unlike the observation tower, which is accessible year-round, cross-country skiing depends directly on snow conditions. If cross-country skiing is important to your trip, take this into account when planning.
