The “Pěší trasa” walking trail, the Potočnice stream and the čp. 35 mill showcase different sides of Písečná: outdoor trails, landscapes and industrial history. If you’re looking for a hotel in Písečná, you can plan your trip around whether you’d mainly like to hike, cycle or visit individual cultural sites. The following local highlights offer specific points of reference.

Exploring Písečná on foot

The “Pěší trasa” is a local walking trail with twelve stops between the cadastral boundaries of Písečná. Several other hiking routes also pass through the village. The Potočnice stream flows through the entire village. From the Kozinec ridge, you can enjoy views of Žampach and the panorama of the Orlické Mountains. You can choose between a trail with stops, other routes through the village and a ridge with named viewpoints, each offering a different focus for your outings. Trail conditions may vary; check the current conditions before setting out.

Ponds, rocks and vegetation

Šuškovský Pond covers five hectares and lies in a wooded valley. On the way there, you’ll find a rest area with a drinking-water spring and an Indigenous totem. As facilities at the site may change, check the current condition of the rest area before your walk if needed. Near Šušek, in a wooded valley, is a rock formation of Permian origin known as “Babizna.” The two named places have different landscape features: at Šuškovský Pond, the focus is on the water and rest area, while at Šušek, it is the rock formation. Písečná is also notable for its extensive stands of mature vegetation; several significant trees have been added to the state list of protected trees.

Architectural and industrial history

The Baroque statue by the church dates from 1717. The present-day rectory in Písečná was built by the Jesuits in 1726. The mill complex at čp. 35, including its technical equipment, was designated a cultural monument on October 26, 2004. The mill contains a Francis turbine dating from 1926, as well as two millstones with peelers, cleaning machines and a grist mill. You must arrange visits to the čp. 35 mill in advance with its owner, Hana Maárová.
