Černíkovice combines a long local history with distinctive features of its architecture and landscape. The Chapel of Saint Procopius, the Všehrdský Stream, and a blue-marked hiking trail point to different aspects of the village. Both its historical development and landscape are therefore worth considering when planning your trip.

Local History and Culture

The first written mention of Černíkovice dates from 1250. The village initially belonged to Plasy Monastery. In 1346, Abbot Jakub of Plasy transferred Černíkovice to Mach. Around 1546, the village came into the possession of Florián Gryspek; in 1623, it returned to Plasy Monastery. The timeline thus stretches from the first mention in the 13th century to the village’s return to the monastery in the early 17th century. The dates mark different milestones: the mention in 1250 is the starting point, while the later dates describe changes in ownership.

The Chapel of Saint Procopius was built in 1880 in the Na vršku part of the village. Its features include a semicircular end and a small roof turret. A roof turret is a small tower on a roof; the semicircular end describes the shape of the building’s termination. The chapel was renovated and reconsecrated after 1990. It is listed as a cultural monument. Its construction date, architectural form, and later renovation offer different points of reference for understanding the building.

The Kollár association is also part of local cultural history. It was founded on May 20, 1923, and staged a total of 30 plays in Černíkovice and the surrounding area before it was dissolved on March 14, 1939. The performances were therefore not limited to the village itself. The founding date, dissolution, and number of plays give this episode a chronological and thematic context.

Landscape and Hiking

The stream and the marked trail are two distinct features of the area’s natural landscape and hiking opportunities. The Všehrdský Stream flows through Černíkovice and rises above the village. Its course through the village and its source above it are both described here. A blue-marked hiking trail also runs through Černíkovice. If you include it in your plans, check the exact route details before setting out. The stream describes a local watercourse, while the trail is a marked hiking route.

Homole, a small grove with a pond on slightly elevated ground, lies near Černíkovice. Although Homole is close to Černíkovice, the grove belongs to Dřevce. In clear weather, Homole offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. This viewpoint is therefore a distinct nearby landmark, alongside the features within the village.

The Kralovicko microregion provides a broader regional context. Its surroundings are characterized by gently rolling, densely forested landscapes, an extensive network of marked hiking trails, and several educational trails. These features relate to the microregion and add another landscape dimension to the specific places of interest in Černíkovice.
