Discover Lešišov: Trails, a linden tree and village chapels
Accommodation in Lešišov
When choosing where to stay in Lešišov, you can use specific trails, cultural sites and landscape features as points of reference. These include the Cestou menhirů trail, cycle route 2091, a menhir field above the village and a protected linden tree. The village also has the Chapel of the Virgin Mary and the Liberation Monument; another wayside shrine stands on the eastern edge of the hamlet. This makes it possible to plan a stay around your own interests: routes, landscapes, or architectural and historical details.
Trails and route planning
The Cestou menhirů trail runs from Mokrosuky to Lešišov and is 6.7 km long. Cycle route 2091 passes through Lešišov and is part of a 20 km route between Nalžovské Hory and Velhartice. These details answer different planning questions: 6.7 km is the length of the trail between its endpoints, while 20 km is the total length of the route that includes the section through Lešišov. The village also plays a different role on each route: Lešišov is the endpoint of the Cestou menhirů trail, while cycle route 2091 passes through it. For this cycle route, check the signage and route locally; conditions on the Cestou menhirů trail may change.
The road from Svojšice to Mokrosuky passes through Lešišov; a cycle path runs along it. Check local conditions before setting out.
Landscape, tree and menhir field
The Lípa nad Lešišovem is a protected individual tree in the cadastral area of Lešišov. It was first placed under protection on 21 June 1985. The Lešišov linden tree formerly served as a landmark on an old route. Its protection date and its former role as a waymark are two distinct historical points of reference.
A menhir field lies above Lešišov. Passers-by can visit it to take photographs or rest after a relaxing walk. Alongside the village’s architectural and historical features, it offers a landscape attraction with a specific purpose for visitors.
Chapels and monument
At the eastern edge of the hamlet of Lešišov, a small wayside shrine dedicated to Saint Martin stands beside a field boundary. It has a rectangular ground plan and two niches on the front wall. On the way there, views open up to the north across the hills of the Svatobor Highlands. Vegetation and weather can affect visibility. The chapel’s architecture and views of the hilly landscape offer two distinct impressions along this route.
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary stands at an intersection on the village green. It is a plastered rectangular masonry building with a double hipped roof and an open bell tower. The rectangular structure, roof shape and tower offer specific features to look for in its architecture. Opposite the chapel, at an intersection, stands the Lešišov Liberation Monument. It was ceremonially unveiled on 5 September 2009. Its position opposite the chapel makes both sites useful landmarks for a walk focused on the village’s architectural and historical features.
