Village Green and Chapel
The historic settlement was laid out around a circular village green; eight founding families built their homes and farm buildings around it. This layout describes not just individual houses but also the basic shape of the settlement centre: the green forms the centre, with the buildings of the eight families around it. The village chapel is the area's only registered immovable cultural monument. It is a vernacular Baroque building from the second half of the 18th century. Its square floor plan, tall pyramidal roof and roof turret with a bell are specific architectural features. The floor plan describes the shape of the building; the roof and roof turret define its upper structure. With a pyramidal roof, the roof slopes converge towards the top. A roof turret is a small tower-like structure on a roof; in the chapel's case, it holds a bell.
Historical Traces
The earliest written mention of the settlement and the Struhadlo mill dates from 1379. Another historical trace leads to 1421: Hussite troops passed through Strhadlo on their march from Plánice to Žinkovy. The dates refer to different events: 1379 marks the earliest written mention, while 1421 refers to a specific passage through the village.
