Discover Nýrsko

Nýrsko can be explored through specific sites and different types of activities. The historical view of Pajrek Castle is particularly distinctive; alongside it, culture, trails, water and winter stand as independent themes to consider.

History

Pajrek Castle was founded before 1356. Pajrek is one of the few donjon castles in the Czech Republic and is characterized by a square tower. The original tower had a ground plan of 16 × 16 metres and at least three residential floors. The west wall and part of the north wall of Pajrek have been preserved.

At Pajrek, an early foundation, a distinctive architectural form and preserved sections of wall come together. The dimensions of the original tower add a concrete sense of its architectural scale to the historical perspective.

Culture

Muzeum Nýrsko offers individual museum tours for groups of five or more. The museum has permanent exhibitions on Okula and Královský hvozd. Over the course of its history, Muzeum Nýrsko has held more than fifty exhibitions.

This provides different approaches to cultural planning: a tour for groups above a certain size, permanently presented topics and exhibition activity documented throughout the museum’s history.

Water

Koupaliště Nýrsko outdoor swimming pool has two outdoor pools with salt water. The large pool at Koupaliště Nýrsko has a maximum depth of 1.6 metres. Following a complete reconstruction, Koupaliště Nýrsko outdoor swimming pool reopened in June 2017.

If you consider water as a separate focus, the number of pools, the salt water and the maximum depth provide specific information for orientation. The reopening after reconstruction adds a clearly dated section from the more recent history of the outdoor swimming pool.

Trails

The Naučná stezka Nýrsko educational trail is approximately 5 kilometres long. It leads past the market square and the Úhlava River. You can use the approximate route length for rough planning, while the market square and the river provide a spatial context for the route described.

When comparing activities, the educational trail represents a route of a defined length with a named starting point. This allows trails, water and culture to be considered according to different themes without reducing them to a single visiting pattern.

Winter

The Nýrsko ski area offers private ski lessons. Alongside the educational trail and the outdoor swimming pool, this represents a clearly defined winter activity. You can classify your preferred focus according to the respective type of activity.

Theatre

Construction work on the Lesní divadlo Nýrsko forest theatre began in 1933. The premiere at Lesní divadlo Nýrsko took place on 23 September 1934.

The two dates place the creation of the forest theatre in chronological context: construction began first, followed by the premiere the following year. The sequence describes the transition from the initial work to the first performance.
