Příkosice offers travelers several distinct points of interest: local history connected with Homberk Castle, rocks on the Homberk ridge, and its location on the edge of the Brdy Forests. If you are looking for a hotel in Příkosice, you can plan your stay around these specific interests.

Location and Rail Connection

Příkosice lies on the edge of the Brdy Forests and on the railway line from Rokycany to Nezvěstice. Good road connections, and especially the rail connection, make the village a destination for day trips and recreation for people from larger cities. This gives you two distinct points of reference when planning your trip: the forest edge describes the landscape, while the railway line connects Rokycany and Nezvěstice.

The History of Homberk Castle

Příkosice has historical ties to Homberk Castle and is first mentioned indirectly in this context in 1368. The castle was besieged and captured by royal troops in 1406. The two dates refer to different events: 1368 concerns the indirect mention of Příkosice, while 1406 concerns the siege and capture of the castle.

The castle was built on two nearby Buližník outcrops, joined by a low saddle. The structures were probably built mainly of wood. The terrain and the probable wooden construction add specific details about the castle’s location and design to its dated history.

Příkosická skála and the Footpath to Homberk

Several scattered Buližník rock formations of Příkosická skála lie along the rocky Homberk ridge, reaching heights of up to 18 meters. Fixed top-rope anchors are installed on the climbing rocks; alternatively, climbers can belay from trees. Check the belay conditions before use.

The climbing area is accessible on foot from Příkosice railway station: the path passes the former JZD and the cemetery, goes over Kuželkovic vršek (556 m), and continues along forest paths to Homberk. Trail conditions may vary.

Geology and Other Local Points of Interest

The Homberk geological site illustrates how lava cools during a submarine eruption. More broadly, the area is associated with volcanism linked to an underwater eruption and hydrothermal activity with concentric stromatolitic structures. This geological perspective adds an interpretation of the landscape and its formation to the castle-related history.

Příkosice is also home to a statue of Saint Anthony of Padua. On February 1, 1825, a fata morgana occurred near Příkosice, close to Rokycany. The statue is a local cultural landmark; the fata morgana is a historical natural phenomenon with a specific date.

Cycling Route as a Regional Connection

Another cycling connection is the long-distance cycle route CT 352 – Inner Circuit of the Region. The plan for 2021–2029 lists Příkosice among the municipalities concerned. For trip planning, these are two different perspectives: CT 352 is a regional cycling route, while access to Příkosická skála is described as a footpath with named waypoints.
