Jinočany offers several specific points of interest for a stay: the stone Jinočanský kříž wayside cross, the Jinočanská kaplička chapel and the Vintířova Trail, which passes through the village. There are also ponds with different uses. These topics differ significantly for travel planning: information about the trail extends beyond the village, while the chapel and wayside cross offer a tangible connection to local history.

Getting there and the Vintířova Trail

Jinočany can be reached by bus routes 309 and 310 from Zličín and route 352 from Luka. There is also a train connection from Smíchovské nádraží station towards Beroun. Check the current timetables before travelling so you can confirm the specific connection for your travel date.

The Vintířova Trail passes through Jinočany to the abandoned village of Krteň. It then follows the renewed Krteňská cesta towards Stodůlky and Řepy. The new section is 136 kilometres long and can be divided into six stages. The scale is important for planning: the route through Jinočany should not be confused with the length of the new section. The 136 kilometres refer to the section as a whole, while the six stages describe one possible way of dividing it.

Chapel and wayside cross

In the village centre, the Jinočanský kříž now stands in a quiet spot next to the chapel. The wayside cross was moved there from a busy crossroads. It dates from 1862 and was probably made by a local stonemason. Lochkov marble and orthoceratite limestone were used. The history of the cross therefore includes both its relocation and its date, as well as the two types of stone mentioned.

The Jinočanská kaplička was built in 1903 as a fire brigade bell tower. Despite its name, it was built mainly for practical purposes rather than as a religious building: it was intended to serve as a fire station for the fire brigade association founded a year earlier. From 2007 onwards, the chapel was used again for weddings, welcoming new residents and other festive occasions. If you are planning an event there, check current availability with the municipality.

Chronologically, the cross predates the chapel; in terms of their stories, the two buildings are different. The cross is notable for its materials, date and relocation, while the chapel’s story centres on its original function for the fire brigade and its later use for festive occasions.

Ponds and their uses

Mirešický rybník is also known as Malý rybník and serves as a multipurpose pond or reservoir. Fishing takes place at Mirešák pond near the Mirešice estate; swimming is also possible there in summer. If you want to fish, check the current conditions for taking part locally. Before swimming, check the current safety and access conditions; swimming is possible in summer.

More local history

The Škroby mine is also part of the village’s history: it was located southwest of Jinočany. This extends the area’s historical connections beyond the buildings in the village centre.
