Pojbuky-Blatnice: Hiking Trails, Ponds and Milling History
Accommodation in Pojbuky-Blatnice
During a stay in Pojbuky-Blatnice, you can include hiking trails, a landscape of ponds and milling history in your travel plans. The excursions vary in length and focus: the Bolzanova cesta runs for 22 kilometres through several places, while the “Mozaika krajiny” educational trail takes around an hour. If you are looking for a hotel, this distinction can help you organise your planned outings according to your preferred distance.
Hiking Trails by Length and Theme
The 22-kilometre Bolzanova cesta runs from Mladá Vožice via Blatnice and Těchobuz to Pacov.
The “Mozaika krajiny” educational trail starts in Těchobuz and follows a blue-marked hiking route to the Blatnice pond complex. It is 2.5 kilometres long and takes about an hour. Six information boards cover ecosystems, fauna and flora; the condition of individual boards may change. This makes it possible to distinguish the educational trail by its length and theme from the longer Bolzanova cesta route.
Ponds, Paths and Wildlife
The ponds around Blatnice are connected by water channels, including some that run partly underground. You can explore the pond landscape on foot or by bicycle along paved and forest paths. The combination of water, channels and different types of paths gives the landscape a clear focus for an outing, without requiring you to commit to a single circular route.
The pond landscape is considered a habitat for waterbirds. These include the black stork, grey heron, kingfisher and several species of duck. Visitors interested in observing nature will find a connection to fauna and habitats here, as well as hiking routes. The educational trail’s six information boards cover related topics, including ecosystems, fauna and flora, adding a natural history perspective to an exploration of the landscape.
Mill Sites and Historical References
The Kozákův Mill stands in the centre of Blatnice, beside the Blatnice watercourse. The mill is documented in church registers from 1639.
Another connection to milling history is at Kačer Pond, where Šimon Kačer’s mill stood in the early 17th century. It is recorded in the land register of the Mladá Vožice estate in 1620. The two references therefore have different dates: the Kozákův Mill is documented from 1639, while the mill at Kačer Pond is associated with an earlier site and the 1620 entry.
Swimming and Boats at the Campsite
Swimming is possible in Kozák Pond next to the Blatnice campsite; local conditions may be a factor. The campsite also has a jetty and access to the pond. Canoes, a kayak and rowing boats are available there for free use.
