Čimelice combines a distinctive church complex in the town centre with a Baroque-influenced castle setting and several landscape features. When looking for a hotel in Cimelice, you can consider whether architectural history, designed landscapes or a sporting activity should be the focus of your trip. The D4 motorway section between Čimelice and Mirotice bypasses the municipalities of Čimelice and Rakovice, providing a specific point of reference for planning your journey.

Church and townscape

The Church of the Most Holy Trinity (Kostel Nejsvětější Trojice) is a prominent urban landmark in the centre of Čimelice and can be seen from afar. Its oldest part is the sacristy, which is thought to date from the first third of the 14th century. The Baroque Chapel of St. Barbara (sv. Barbory), with its dome and lantern, was added to the north side of the single-nave, east-facing church in the first half of the 18th century.

For architecture enthusiasts, two distinct building phases can be seen side by side at the church: the oldest, probably medieval part and the Baroque chapel added later. The sacristy’s probable date should be distinguished from the period in which the chapel was built.

Castle and designed landscape

Čimelice Castle (Čimelický zámek) was built in the Baroque style in 1728–1730 and remodelled in 1817. An English landscape park extends around the castle. A Baroque avenue connects Čimelice Castle with Rakovický state farm. The park surrounds the castle, while the avenue links it to this other named destination. Architectural history and designed landscapes thus offer distinct aspects of the castle setting.

Landscape and nature

The Čimelicko–Rakovicko Landscape Conservation Area, designated in 2002, lies within the municipality of Čimelice. At the settlement level, the Skalice stream is another geographical reference point: it flows through both parts of Čimelice. Nearby, the Kopáčovská Natural Monument lies in a woodland complex near the Krsice–Rakovický mlýn road. Designated in 1985, the protected area covers a 1.03-hectare wet meadow with protected plant species. These landscape features range from the designated area within the municipality and the stream to the nearby natural monument. Check the current access rules before visiting Kopáčovská.
