Dražičky combines an early written history with evidence of architectural and archaeological history, as well as hiking trails toward Příběnice. This offers different focuses for planning your trip: you can explore the town’s historical milestones or consider the section through Dražičky described in a route guide. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Dražičky, it helps to decide in advance whether local history or hiking will play a greater role in your plans.

Historical Development

Dražičky is first mentioned in surviving archives in 1379. In the 14th century, the village belonged to the Příběnice estate. Dražičky Fortress was built between 1565 and 1589; it was later demolished and probably replaced by a manor house in the 17th century. These details tell different aspects of the village’s history: its affiliation with the estate places Dražičky in the 14th century, while the fortress and manor house mark its later architectural history. The administrative context and the changes to the buildings can therefore be considered as separate historical aspects.

Chapel and Burial Mound Field

The chapel stands in the village center on the village square. Its sandstone portal bears the year 1841 on the keystone. The keystone is the uppermost part of an arch and thus a distinctive detail of the portal. The chapel was reconstructed in 2006–2007. The date on the portal and the reconstruction mark two separate points in its history: an inscription on an architectural detail and a later building project.

The Široká alej burial mound field in Dražičky, also known as the “V rybníčkách” burial ground, comprises 91 burial mounds. Both names refer to the same site. It adds archaeological evidence to the architectural history: here, the focus is on a group of burial mounds rather than a single building. The chapel and burial mound field thus offer two different perspectives on Dražičky’s cultural heritage.

Hiking Trails Toward Příběnice

As of July 15, 2026, the yellow-marked hiking trail from Tábor to Příběnice follows the historic route through Dražičky, with minor changes. Cycling is prohibited on this hiking trail. Check the current route before setting out and take the restriction into account when planning. The historical connection gives this route a distinct temporal link to the village: it not only leads to Příběnice, but partly follows a historic route through Dražičky.

The “Poloostrov mezi Lužnicí a Lužnicí” route continues via Slapy and Dražičky to Příběnice. The yellow-marked hiking route highlights its connection to the historic trail; the other route description lists Slapy, Dražičky, and Příběnice in sequence. For comparison, you can therefore consider the hiking route’s starting point in Tábor and its connection to the historic trail alongside the sequence of places given in the other description. Both descriptions place Dražičky in connection with Příběnice, but use different reference points.
