Myslín
Accommodation in Myslín
If you choose Myslín as your destination, you can organize your stay around three themes: trails, cultural history, and outdoor activities. The Výtvarná naučná stezka is ten kilometers long; a blue-marked hiking trail leads to two named destinations. These are joined by Myslín Fortress, the Mirovice Jewish Cemetery in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Myslín, and opportunities for fishing and mushroom picking. This combination can help you decide which themes matter to you when choosing a destination and a hotel.
Trails and trip planning
The Výtvarná naučná stezka is 10 km long, intended for pedestrians and cyclists, and leads to Myslín. Its stated length makes it easier to estimate the planned scope of the trip. At the start of the route, a QR code guides visitors along the entire trail. Before setting out, check whether the installation is still there and whether the route information is up to date.
A blue-marked hiking trail has a different focus: it passes through Myslín to the Stražiště pilgrimage site and continues to the ruins of Rochov hrádek. Before setting out, check whether the markings are up to date. The distinction is useful when choosing: the Výtvarná naučná stezka has a stated length and is for pedestrians and cyclists, while the blue hiking trail focuses on its two destinations.
Architectural history and places of remembrance
Myslín Fortress is documented from the 14th century and was expanded in the Renaissance style at the end of the 16th century. Today, it is a single-story rectangular building with a gabled roof covered in tiles; Gothic cellars have also been preserved. The Gothic cellar and Renaissance expansion offer different architectural highlights.
The Mirovice Jewish Cemetery is located in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Myslín. It preserves more than 200 gravestones dating from 1764 to 1965. The site is reportedly dated to around 1680; this presumed founding date predates the period covered by the preserved gravestones. The cemetery is regularly maintained. If you want to take its current state of upkeep into account when planning a visit, check beforehand. The fortress is notable for its form and architectural styles, while the cemetery is notable for the date range of its gravestones and its presumed founding date.
Outdoor activities and getting there
The forests around Myslín are suitable for mushroom picking; seasonal conditions and local rules may vary. Fishing is possible in the Vlčava-Skalice River, which flows through the village. Check current fishing regulations and access separately. For mushroom picking, the season and local regulations matter; fishing also requires checking access.
Myslín railway station is served by line S66; train services run to Březnice and Protivín. If you are planning to arrive by train, check the timetable before departure.
