Stehlovice: Walking Trails, Views and Village History
Accommodation in Stehlovice
Stehlovice offers something for visitors interested in nature and culture: the Zábavná stezka, views from Skalice, a historic village setting, and rail and cycling connections. You can choose what to focus on during your visit—time outdoors, village history or a trip for a specific event.
Valley, Skalice and Views
Stehlovice lies in the valley of the Jetětický potok at the foot of Skalice. At 531 metres, it is the highest point in the area. In clear weather, Skalice offers views of the Šumava panorama; visibility over a long distance therefore depends on conditions. The valley describes the village’s location, while the high point provides a distinct landscape feature.
Walking Trails with Different Highlights
The Zábavná stezka is a nature walk through Stehlovice with 13 stops. The stops combine educational and playful content; there are also play opportunities for children along the trail, while adults can relax there. This means the stops themselves are also a focus, in addition to the walk. The NauÄŤná stezka VejrovskĂ©ho zemanstvĂ educational trail follows a different route: it leads through the picturesque countryside around Branice, Stehlovice and VeselĂÄŤko. The choice between the two trails mainly depends on whether you are looking for a walking trail with 13 stops in the village or an educational trail through the countryside around three villages.
Village Square and Local Events
The chapel of St John of Nepomuk, dating from the first half of the 19th century, stands in the village square. In front of it is an iron cross on a stone plinth dating from 1865. Thus, the same square brings together a date spanning a period and a specific year. A traditional pilgrimage is celebrated every year on 26 July, the feast day of St Anne. PosvĂcenĂ takes place on 16 October. If you would like to plan your stay around one of these events, check the latest event information before travelling.
Getting There by Rail and Bicycle
Railway line No. 201 runs through Stehlovice, from Tábor via Milevsko, PĂsek and RaĹľice to Strakonice. Check the current timetable for your journey. At Stehlovice railway station, tickets are sold to passengers on the train, not at the station; check this arrangement before travelling, as rail services can change. Cycle route No. 1152 runs through Stehlovice and connects Milevsko, at the junction by TyrolskĂ˝ dĹŻm, with route No. 31. These are two different points to consider when choosing how to travel: the rail line and its listed places, and the cycle route with its connection to route No. 31.
With this overview, you can choose Stehlovice to suit your interests and then compare specific hotel offers.
