Štěpánovice offers a range of points of interest: religious buildings, the landscape along the Svratka River, and marked hiking trails and cycling routes. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between location information and details about individual route sections. This will help you determine whether information relates to a building, the start of a hiking trail, or part of a cycling loop.

Religious Buildings and Local History

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius is among the historic monuments of Štěpánovice. Another example of religious architecture is the Boží muka: built from red sandstone, they are Baroque in style and date from 1706. They are also listed as a protected cultural monument. Their material, style, and date give them a distinct character; unlike a chapel, they are an example of small-scale Baroque religious architecture.

The Baroque Chapel of Saint Anne is also in Štěpánovice. Together with the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius and the Boží muka, it offers a varied perspective on the local religious architecture. The chapels are dedicated to different saints, while the smaller Boží muka represent a different type of structure. The center is also home to a former mill building dating from 1843. Alongside the religious buildings, it adds a different architectural note; its date extends the historical perspective beyond the example dating from 1706.

Landscape and Hiking Trails

Štěpánovice lies on the Svratka River and is surrounded by the forested slopes of the peaks in the Svratecká hornatina Nature Park. The river and the wooded slopes provide two distinct landscape features to explore during your stay. A red-marked hiking trail passes through the village; blue- and yellow-marked hiking trails start at the train station. This distinction is important for navigation: the red trail crosses Štěpánovice, while the other two start at the station. Plan according to the route and its color, and check the current trail markings before your hike, as they may change.

Cycling Routes and Individual Sections

The 23-kilometer Na Babylon cycling loop runs through Tišnov, Štěpánovice, Borač, the Babylon lookout tower, the Křivoš lookout tower, Kaly, Dolní Loučky, and Předklášteří before returning to Tišnov. Štěpánovice is therefore on the route of a named loop, and the stated distance refers to the entire route. If you use the loop to plan your ride, note that the 23 kilometers apply to the whole circuit, not just the section through the village. Route conditions may change, so check the current route before setting out.

The Borač–Kaly section of the small cycling loop has terrain suitable for mountain bikes. This suitability applies to the specified section and does not automatically extend to the entire route. You can take the train on the Štěpánovice–Podolí section of the small cycling loop. If you plan to travel this section by train, check the current train service before setting out. This ensures that the mountain biking information and the option to use the train are each associated with the appropriate section.
