Blažovice offers several distinct starting points for planning your trip: local history, memorial sites, walks in the Biocentrum and activity at the pump track. If you’re looking for a hotel in Blažovice, you can consider which of these topics interests you most during your stay. Crafts and art, the history of the Battle of Austerlitz and recreational activities each add their own emphasis.

Blacksmithing Tradition, Church and Art

The Blažovická kovárna was built around 1770. After the Velvet Revolution, it resumed its function under a locksmith’s licence; it was run by the sixth and seventh generations of the Kašpařík family in Blažovice. The time it was built and the later resumption of the craft offer two perspectives on the forge and its significance to local history.

Another point of interest is the Kostel Nejsvětějšího Srdce Ježíšova church. It was consecrated on 10 June 1934 and dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The current Stations of the Cross were painted in 1954 by local painter Rudolf Paulík. The dedication and artwork connect the church’s history with a specific contribution by an artist from Blažovice.

Memorial Sites and Local History

Two plaques in the Blažovická zvonice commemorate fallen French soldiers and their commanders, Pierre Castex and Colonel Jean Pierre Morland. The memorial stone plaques in Blažovice also document the history of a farmstead that belonged to the Dominican convent of St. Anne. The oldest memorial stone plaque records that the farmstead burned down completely on 17 August 1604 and was rebuilt in 1607. The plaques thus bring together the history of the village and a specific event with its recorded dates.

Boží muka pod Starými vinohrady is also a memorial site: the monument commemorates the victims of the Battle of Austerlitz and the suffering of residents of the surrounding communities. The new memorial column was unveiled on 2 December 1992 on the southern edge of the Blažovice cadastral area, at the crossroads of the roads from Prace to Křenovice and from Blažovice to Zbýšov. Its precise location and dedication give the site both a geographical and a historical connection.

The “Setkání” sculpture adds a different emphasis. It stands at the northern entrance to the village and consists of four wooden pylons. It was created by sculptor Mgr. Daniel Klose. While the memorial sites commemorate historical events and people, “Setkání” is a distinct work of public art.

Walks, Nature Trail and Pump Track

The Biocentrum is suitable for relaxing Sunday walks. Its features include a small pond planted with aquatic plants, which provides a breeding ground for protected amphibian species. There is also an information board about the Bitvy tří císařů nature trail. Landscape, habitat and historical information come together here within the same Biocentrum, even though the walk and the nature trail do not cover the same topic.

The Bitva tří císařů nature trail includes the PS6 Blažovice–Jiříkovice section. This is associated with the decisive attack by French troops on Pratecké návrší and Staré vinohrady during the Battle of Austerlitz. Another route, “Po slavkovském bojišti I,” is 31 kilometres long and passes through Blažovice, among other places. If you’d like to include this route in your travel plans, check the latest route details in advance.

For an activity on a bicycle or scooter, there is the pump track. Its paved surface is intended for riding bicycles or scooters; the skill zone is designed to improve bicycle handling and riding technique. The pump track is freely accessible. Check the local operating rules before your visit. Walks in the Biocentrum and activity at the pump track differ in the type of activity and can help you decide what to focus on when planning your trip.
