Brumov lies in the wider valley floor of the Besének stream. Its natural area, ponds, cycling route and local history offer different ways to explore the village. When planning your visit, you can focus on nature, water, cycling or historic buildings. Which topics you combine depends on your interests and the time of year you travel.

Landscape and nature

The Vršky u Brumova area covers 5.64 hectares. Numerous heat-loving plants grow there on calcareous phyllites; they are unusual in the region and endangered. Vršky is therefore not just an area of land, but also a remarkable plant habitat. The plants’ visibility varies with the seasons, so the time of year matters to visitors interested in nature. The Besének valley floor describes Brumov’s setting; Vršky u Brumova adds a specifically named area with its own natural feature to this landscape.

Ponds and events

Brumov has two ponds suitable for swimming. Swimming conditions and access may vary; check the situation before your visit if swimming is important to your plans. A visitor description updated in 2021 mentions an annual Neckyáda at the larger pond. A visitor description updated in 2021 gives the second Sunday in August as the date of the annual pilgrimage. These are two distinct planning details: the Neckyáda’s connection to the larger pond, and a specific calendar date for the pilgrimage. Confirm current dates locally if either event is important to your trip.

Cycling route and circuit

A cycling route reaches Brumov from Osiky via the Cimrmanova Trail; near Brumov, it connects with cycling route 5143 towards Černovice. This describes both the approach and the continuation of the cycling route. Another circular route runs via Nedvědice, Skorotice, Hrádky, Káčiny, Černovice, Brumov and Osiky, then returns to Skorotice and Nedvědice via Sýkořský les and Louky. The focus here is the complete circuit and its sequence of places. When planning, you can consider two separate questions: do you want to reach Brumov from Osiky via the Cimrmanova Trail, or is the complete circuit through several places, with the return via Sýkořský les and Louky, the deciding factor? The sequence makes the difference between a connecting route and a circuit clear.

Chapel and historic landmarks

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands in the centre of Brumov. Its predecessor, built in 1912, was demolished to make way for a road widening; a new chapel was built in 1923. The sequence links two dates to a specific local event: the road widening preceded the new construction. A black marble cross dating from 1950 stands at the lower end of the village. While the chapel’s history includes demolition and rebuilding, the cross is distinguished by its year of origin and its location at the lower end of the village.
