Chvalovice combines historic buildings and winemaking with opportunities for outdoor activities. You can plan your trip around different interests: a guided tour, architecture and wine cellars, or trails suitable for a range of leisure activities. This lets you tailor your stay to what interests you most locally.

Visit the Infantry Blockhouse on a Guided Tour Only

The MJ-S 4 “Zatáčka” Infantry Blockhouse can only be visited as part of a guided tour. This includes an accompanying guide and their explanations; there is no minimum number of participants. The tour route takes approximately 45 minutes, giving you a guide for planning your time.

The operator or a person authorized by them must be present for access to the site. Opening hours are irregular and are published separately. Therefore, check the published schedule before your visit. The approximate route duration and the guided format are two separate points to consider when planning.

St. Margaret’s Church and the History of Winemaking

The chancel, tower and nave’s perimeter walls at St. Margaret’s Church date from around 1500. The tower is notable for its crenellated crown, with a brick pyramid at its center. The rectangular main entrance bears the coat of arms of Řehoř Vamberk, Abbot of Louka, and the year 1766. The church thus features two different dates: the dating of certain structural elements to around 1500 and the year on the entrance.

Chvalovice’s row of wine cellars also tells the story of local winemaking. It runs along the Raníte in the direction of Šatov. The cellars are hewn into sandstone and are mostly unvaulted. Another building connected with wine is the protected tithe cellar dating from 1770, with an ornate Baroque façade bearing a coat of arms. Historically, the cellar was used by the Premonstratensian Louka Monastery to collect wine dues.

Wine is also celebrated at “Chutnání vín,” a wine-tasting event in Chvalovice that has already reached its 36th edition. If you want to plan your trip around this event, check the date in advance.

Trails, a Pond and Outdoor Activities

You can play disc golf on the Daníž loop trail. Along the route, there are also children’s play features, attractive chapels and rest areas. This combines one activity with other stops along the same loop, without requiring you to follow a particular itinerary.

Sport fishing is possible at the local pond in Chvalovice. A large outdoor activity area for children and adults is located next to the football and multi-purpose sports grounds. The specific facilities at individual sites may change; bear this in mind if you are planning your visit specifically around the activity area.

Another trail in Chvalovice passes through a well-maintained forest park. It is suitable for family walks, inline skating and cycling. If you want to include some exercise, you can choose between the loop trail with disc golf and rest areas and the route through the forest park. These options have different focuses rather than assuming a single way to spend your leisure time.

Plan a Stay That Suits You

If a particular guided tour date or the wine tasting is important for your trip, plan around the dates published for each. This keeps your choice of destination guided by your interests without letting a single activity determine your entire stay.
