Discover Železné: Blacksmithing and Nature
Accommodation in Železné
There is also a traditional MTB race for children.
Blacksmithing and events
The event “Železo v Železném, aneb setkání kovářů u piva” is held annually and gives visitors the opportunity to watch blacksmiths at work. Adults and children can try their hand at blacksmithing, wood carving or wirework under the guidance of experienced masters. They can take home a souvenir they have made themselves. If you are planning to attend a future edition, check the specific event dates and programme details in advance. The two offerings showcase craftsmanship in different ways: at the festival, it is an activity; on the nature trail, it shapes the design of the nature motifs.
In 2026, the traditional Inspiro MTB Cup for children up to 14 years old will take place on a grass field beside a cycle path beyond the town, in the direction of Železné. Check the dates separately for future editions.
Nature trail: nature and craftsmanship
The “Cesta ráčka Železníka nejen za železem” nature trail brings together information about nature and handcrafted design. Interactive panels set into the ground provide information about the local biocentre and the fauna and flora found there. Carved and forged elements line the trail, depicting local animals, plants and features of the surrounding natural environment. The panels provide information, while the elements show nature motifs in an artistic form. There are also rest areas and benches along the trail, which you can take into account when planning places to pause.
Hradisko: vegetation and former mining
The local Hradisko biocentre lies below Hradisko. Hradisko is dominated by species-rich thermophilic grass and herb communities; “thermophilic” means heat-loving. The slopes are home to the remains of two former quarries, where crystalline limestone was once extracted. Hradisko thus brings together species-rich vegetation and traces of the former limestone quarrying. The vegetation and quarry remains offer different points of interest: the character of the vegetation on one hand, and historic mineral extraction on the other.
Getting there and getting around
Železné is served by buses with frequent connections. Tišnov is 2 km from Železné and has train and bus connections to Brno. For your planning, these are separate points of reference: bus services in Železné and Tišnov’s connections to Brno. If Brno is part of your trip, consider Tišnov’s connections as a separate element of your travel plans.
When planning your stay, you can first distinguish between a visit tied to specific dates and one focused on a particular theme. The dates of the blacksmithing event and MTB Cup are important, so check them before a future trip. The nature trail and Hradisko, by contrast, can guide you if you would like to focus your stay on information about nature, vegetation or historic limestone extraction.
