Jiřice U Moravských Budějovic – Meditation Trail and Enclosed Village Center
Accommodation in Jiřice U Moravských Budějovic
Jiřice U Moravských Budějovic combines an enclosed historic village center with a protected landscape and a trail devoted to art and reflection. The village layout, religious monuments, meditation trail and fire brigade museum each offer a distinct focus. The river landscape, historic center and stops along the meditation trail offer different points of interest for your trip.
Landscape along the middle reaches of the Jevišovka
A considerable part of the cadastral area lies within Jevišovka Nature Park. The park was established to protect the gently rolling hills along the middle reaches of the Jevišovka and its tributaries, including the Nedveka. The waterways and hills thus shape the area’s landscape. Around the Nedveka, some of the woodland has a submontane character, including Černý les. This description gives the landscape a specific woodland and altitudinal character in addition to its river setting.
Meditační křížová cesta and Rozhledna Anička
The Meditační křížová cesta runs through a former orchard and features 14 stations with 17 images by Bedřiška Znojemská. The selection of images on display may vary seasonally. At the end of the trail stands the wooden Rozhledna Anička, about ten metres tall and freely accessible. Visitors can park at the start of the Meditační křížová cesta and walk about 150 metres along an easy path to the tower. This makes the trail and tower easy to understand as connected destinations: the tower stands at the end of the route, while the stations and images shape the trail. Check practical parking and access information before your visit.
The grounds of the Meditační křížová cesta also include a gallery featuring images by Bedřiška Znojemská. In a forest near Rozhledna Anička is the Meditační poustevna, intended for silence, reflection and relaxation. The gallery and hermitage offer different experiences: one focuses on the images, the other on a place of quiet. If you plan to visit these attractions, check the current conditions beforehand: the gallery’s arrangements may change; please check separately for information about access to the hermitage.
Village layout and local monuments
The original village center is laid out as an enclosed circular village. The term describes the connected form of the village center, not just a single building. The listed chapel stands in the village square. The municipality built it at its own expense in 1869; its protected status and specific construction date give the place a clear historical connection. In the Na pískách fields, a brick wayside shrine dedicated to Saint Procopius also stands on the road to Prokopov. This means you can find both a religious building in the village square and a wayside shrine in a named field area.
Firefighting equipment and gear
The Hasičské muzeum displays horse-drawn fire engines and old hand-held fire extinguishers, as well as fire brigade helmets and uniforms. The exhibits highlight two aspects of firefighting: the equipment used to extinguish fires and the gear worn by firefighters. The museum thus adds its own focus to the themes of landscape, village history and art.
