Discover Křižínkov
Accommodation in Křižínkov
Křižínkov lies in the Křižanovská vrchovina at 468 metres above sea level. If you take local history and architecture into account when choosing a travel destination, the village square, Chapel of St. Anne and religious wayside markers offer tangible points of interest. The themes range from the settlement layout and an early historical mention to building history and more recent events.
Village layout and early history
The village square has an irregular layout, with several streets branching off from it. This connection between the square and the streets describes the structure of the village and distinguishes it from a regularly laid-out square. The first written mention of Křižínkov dates from 1309.
Parts of solid stone walls are still being excavated at the site of today’s house No. 14. According to tradition, the Křižínkov fortress, surrounded by ponds, stood there. Two distinct points of reference therefore stand side by side in the village’s history: the early written mention and a castle tradition associated with the site of a present-day house. The identification of the site as a fortress is explicitly based on tradition.
Chapel of St. Anne
The Chapel of St. Anne was built in 1848. It is designed in the Classicist style with late Baroque elements and is considered an example of 19th-century vernacular architecture. The construction date and stylistic classification complement one another: the date places the building in its historical period, while the combination of terms clarifies its architectural character. For culturally minded travellers, this provides a tangible point of interest where the building’s period and style can be considered together.
Crosses and wayside shrine
The religious wayside markers differ in material, form and location. A tall wooden cross bearing the year 1981 stands on the road to Křoví. A cross in the form of a granite column with a Corpus Christi stands in the direction of Katov. By a crossroads in the direction of Pánov, a marble cross lies completely hidden in the undergrowth.
At the southwestern edge of Křižínkov, near gardens and adjoining fields, stand the restored walls of a triangular wayside shrine; its niches are empty. The crosses and the wayside shrine offer different architectural forms and materials: wood, granite and marble alongside the shrine’s triangular walls. Their distinctive shapes provide a way to understand the variety of these wayside markers.
Events in Křižínkov
Masopust was celebrated in Křižínkov in both 2024 and 2025. Křižínkov běží is a traditional running event. Its fifth edition took place in May 2023; there was also an edition in 2026. A festive occasion and a running event thus offer two different cultural points of interest. If you would like to plan your trip around one of these dates, check the specific event date before making plans. Masopust was celebrated in two consecutive years; Křižínkov běží took place in 2023 and 2026.
