Several interests come together when planning a trip to Lovčice: a green-marked hiking trail, a cycle route and the Ždánickým lesem educational trail pass through the village; churches, chapels and traditional events are also among its defining features. Lovčice lies on the southern edge of Ždánický les Nature Park. The surrounding area includes forests, orchards, fields and vineyards. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Lovčice, you can plan your visit around the trails, local history or event dates.

Trails and Tour Planning

The Ždánickým lesem educational trail forms a circular route approximately 10 km long. This approximate distance gives you a guide when planning your tour. A green-marked hiking trail and a cycle route also pass through Lovčice.

The Jordánek spring lies beyond the pond, beside a forest road. A marked hiking trail, an educational trail and a cycle route follow this road. As the route should be checked locally, compare it with the trail markers before setting out.

Traditional Events

The krojované hody folk-costume festival is traditionally held in Lovčice on the third Sunday in October. The Petropavelský výlet is a traditional event in June. Check the event dates before your trip; the specific day of the October event may vary from year to year.

Churches, Chapels and Architectural History

The Church of St Peter and Paul stands in the centre of Lovčice, within the enclosure of a former cemetery surrounded by a wall. The building dates from 1805 and is in the Empire style. Inside, mosaics by Antonín Klouda of Prague adorn the church.

The Fara rectory is also architecturally notable: the building was constructed in 1914 in the style of architectural modernism. Its façade features a fresco of Christ as the Good Shepherd, created by academic painter Jano Köhler.

In Kučí, a chapel sits above Lovčice amid fields. Large lime trees make it visible from afar. In the Roubaniny district, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary is a vernacular building that probably dates from the 18th century. The chapel offers a view and seating in the shade of two old lime trees. The Kříž na Hraničkách also has visitor seating and a picturesque view of the landscape of Moravian Tuscany. Seating may change; check its condition before your visit if you plan to use it.

Landscape and Special Places

Lovčice lies at the confluence of the Lovčický potok and the Jordánek stream. Together with its location on the southern edge of the nature park and the surrounding landscape of forests, orchards, fields and vineyards, this creates a setting distinct from the village’s churches and chapels.

Another special place to visit is Ráj sukulentů u Honců. The collection is housed in a greenhouse near a former forester’s lodge and includes more than 1,000 species of succulents; its size may change. In connection with the collection, Jaroslav Honc regularly holds exhibitions in Lovčice twice a year. Check the specific dates locally.
