Lubné lies at the foot of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. A stream flows through the village, a hiking trail passes through it, and valleys and places of cultural and historical interest lie nearby.

Landscape and Watercourses

The Lubenský potok flows through Lubné towards Kutiny. The Halda takes a different course: it runs along the eastern edge of the cadastral area and joins the Libochůvka from the right near Kutiny. To find your way, distinguish the stream in the village from the watercourse on the eastern edge of the area. Part of the Kutiny settlement belongs to Lubné. The streams meet near Kutiny; their nearby valleys are a popular destination for hitchhikers and hikers. Nearby, deep in a gorge, is a protected zone of a natural monument locally known as “Lubenský prales.”

Hiking and Getting There

A green-marked hiking trail from Tišnov to Velká Bíteš runs through Lubné. It leads through the Libochůvka Valley and the recreation area by Níhovský rybník. Before your hike, check whether the green marking is still up to date. Lubné is also served regularly by the Tišnov–Velká Bíteš bus route. Check the current timetable before travelling.

The path through the Haldatal Valley between Níhov railway stop and Kutiny is about five kilometres long. Along this route, you will often need to cross the stream, as there are usually no footbridges. Conditions may depend on the weather, so ask locally before setting out. Níhov railway stop is a suitable starting point for an excursion into the Haldatal Valley. Check train services before planning your journey.

Chapel and Local History

The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary was built on Lubné’s southeast-facing slope in 1885. A traditional pilgrimage Mass is celebrated at the chapel in Lubné every year in May. Check the exact date in advance.

Lubné’s cultural centre is housed in a wooden building relocated from the Kutiny settlement. During the war, the building was part of a forced-labour camp; today, it is used as a cultural centre. Towards Níhov is the sv. Jiljí spring, with a statue of its patron saint. Towards Rojetín is a stone Stations of the Cross with a unique glass cross.

Traditions and Local Events

Decorating Christmas trees together is a tradition in Lubné; dates may vary. The so-called creative Fridays take place on the first Friday of each month. If you would like to take part, ask locally for details. The band Listověj has performed in Lubné several times. If you would like to combine your trip with a concert, check locally for upcoming dates.
