Medlovice offers travelers several specific topics to consider when planning a trip: the Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi, local festivals with a variety of culinary themes, and the Nad Medlovickým potokem protected area. If you are traveling specifically for a festival, check the latest date in advance.

Chapel and Stone Cross

The Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi was built in 1899. Its year of construction provides a clear historical link to the history of the town and makes the chapel a specific point of interest for travelers interested in religious architecture. Another distinct point of interest is the stone cross on the road to Rybníček: it was restored in August 2023. These two details represent different time periods and aspects of cultural heritage—the construction of the chapel, on the one hand, and the later preservation of the cross, on the other. If cultural aspects are important in your choice of destination, Medlovice offers both a building with a specific year of construction and a more recent example of restoration.

Festivals and Event Dates

The Pálení čarodějnic festival was held in Medlovice in 2024 and 2025; the Drakiáda was also celebrated in 2023 and 2024. Letní noc was held in 2023 and announced again for 2025. Stavění máje was held in 2023; for 2024, it was planned as part of the announced Pálení čarodějnic event. These years refer to previous editions or announcements and are not a current event calendar.

Tastings and Masové hody

The details of the first and second editions of the Medlovské košt ovocných pálenek differ: at the first, visitors could taste 21 varieties of fruit spirits; at the second edition in 2023, 26 samples were judged. The figures refer to different things—in one case, varieties available for tasting, and in the other, samples that were judged. A third edition was announced for 2024. Traditional Masové hody have also been held in Medlovice several times. They featured roast pork with sauerkraut, garlic schnitzel, beer and mulled wine; homemade butcher’s specialties were also sold to take away. A fruit-spirit tasting and a festival featuring hearty food and take-away options thus offer two distinct culinary themes.

Nad Medlovickým potokem Protected Area

The Nad Medlovickým potokem protected area offers a distinct focus alongside the chapel and festivals. Its conservation objectives include thermophilic plant communities of the Pontic-Pannonian type, as well as wild animals, especially amphibians. The protection therefore covers both specific plant communities and wildlife, with amphibians highlighted as a particular part of this objective. The terms “thermophilic” and “of the Pontic-Pannonian type” give the plant communities a specific ecological context. If nature is a factor in your travel decisions, the protected area is a clearly defined reason to consider Medlovice from this perspective as well.
