The Vyškov region lies at the transition between Haná and the Drahanská vrchovina. Its landscape includes quiet rural areas, villages, low hills and forest paths. This makes the region particularly appealing to travellers who want to spend time outdoors: the trails offer everything from short walks to longer hikes, while cycling routes connect different places. Nature, regional specialities and cultural and historical associations round out the trip-planning options.

Hiking between forests and valleys

The forest paths and terrain of the Vyškov region are suitable for both short walks and longer hikes. When choosing a route, you can be guided by its course or by its stated distance. The Kolem řeky Hané trail runs from Vyškov to Ivanovice na Hané and is suitable for walking and cycling. The six-kilometre Údolím Velké Hané route follows the valley from Hamilton to Rychtářov.

Other trails wind through the forests of the Litenčická pahorkatina. The Krajinou Větrníků route leads to the Větrníky National Nature Monument. These destinations offer different experiences: sometimes the focus is on connecting places, sometimes on travelling through a forest area or reaching a named natural monument.

Cycling along regional connections

The 15-kilometre Cukrovarská cycling route follows the former narrow-gauge railway from Vyškov to Kozlany. Its course makes the former railway line an easy-to-recognise landmark for the ride. Cycling Route 5029 connects Vyškov with Orlovice, Hvězdlice and Nesovice.

Another option is the cycling loop from Křenovice to the Slavkov battlefield. It is classified as easy, is 20 kilometres long and has 257 metres of elevation gain.

Nature and cultural and historical associations

The Vyškov region has ponds suitable for swimming, walks, a break during a cycling trip and relaxation. As access to the water may be seasonal, check before you travel. Ždánický les is a nature park associated with deep broadleaf forests, rare plants and wildlife. Together with the forest trails and the Větrníky natural monument, the area offers a range of nature-related themes to consider when planning outings.

One cultural and historical landmark is the Mohyla míru, a war memorial dedicated to all the victims of the Battle of Slavkov in December 1805. The LHS Vyškov collection also includes two OT-64 R2M armoured personnel carriers equipped with radio equipment. Alongside landscape and outdoor activities, the area therefore offers remembrance and military technology as distinct themes.
