Nasedlovice: Culture, History and Wine Landscape
Accommodation in Nasedlovice
Nasedlovice offers several attractions that may play a specific role when choosing a destination: an unusual church, local history, collections, festivals, and connections to winegrowing and the landscape. If you are looking for hotels in Nasedlovice, you can first consider whether you are more interested in architecture and history, a collection, a festival date, or a wine-related landscape. A cycling and wine trail runs through the village, and the Nová hora vineyard site is another point of interest.
Church Architecture and Local History
The Church of Saint Martin and Saints Cyril and Methodius is an unusual, purist building. It was built in 1927–1928 to a design by architect Antonín Mendl. The earliest precisely established date in the history of Nasedlovice is 1327: at that time, the Cistercian nuns exchanged Nasedlovice for Stanoviště near Tišnov. Several centuries separate this medieval exchange from the 20th-century church. The village's history thus brings together an early historical reference point and a specific church building with a known design date.
Museum, Gallery and Sýpka
The Nasedlovice Museum and Gallery house a permanent exhibition of a rural room, as well as a collection of historic costume components. The two themes offer different perspectives: the room focuses on rural living space, while the costume components are individual historic items of clothing. You can visit during the municipal office's opening hours or by prior arrangement; please agree on the time in advance.
The Sýpka is a former manorial granary belonging to the Lichtenštejn estate. It houses various historic machines and tools; the items currently on display may change. The Sýpka is open by request, so you should arrange this visit in advance as well.
Wine Landscape and the Kyjov Wine Trail
Nasedlovice lies on the western edge of the Kyjov Hills. The Nová hora vineyard site in Nasedlovice is on a southeast-facing slope. Its soils consist of modal chernozem, formed on thick deposits of windblown loess and sand with a higher lime content. The aspect and soil describe different features: the southeast-facing slope indicates the site's position on the hillside, while the loess, sand and lime content give more detail about how the soil formed.
The Kyjov Wine Trail, a route for cyclists and wine walkers, also runs through Nasedlovice. The wine and landscape theme therefore has two specific points of interest: the trail as a route through the village, and Nová hora with its hillside position and soil characteristics.
Festivals and When to Visit
Ostatky includes a procession and a masquerade ball and always takes place in early March; the exact dates vary each year. Dožínky is a harvest festival held in August, also with an exact date that changes each year. The Martinské krojované hody festival is held in Nasedlovice. This gives you a choice of two times to visit: early March or August. Check the specific dates of Ostatky and Dožínky before making plans.
