Rašovice: Nature, Trails and Local History
Accommodation in Rašovice
Rašovice offers several different reasons to visit: protected nature, cycling and hiking trails, and local history. The natural areas, a tour on foot or by bike, and the history of the filial Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius offer different perspectives on the town.
Nature and Landscape
The Rašovický zlom – Chobot Nature Reserve protects thermophilous plant communities of the Pontic-Pannonian type, as well as wild animals. The Mušenice Nature Reserve lies south of Rašovice, and the Žlíbek Natural Monument lies to the east. Mušenice and Žlíbek also protect these plant communities and wild animals; amphibians are particularly highlighted at both sites. Rašovice is also close to the Ždánický les.
The Rašovický potok is also part of the natural landscape: it flows through Rašovice and rises in the Rokle municipal forest and the Hrček spring area. This brings together protected habitats, a nearby forest and a stream running through the town in the description of the area.
Cycling and Hiking
Cycle Route 5098 passes through Rašovice and provides a 7.7-kilometre connection along forest roads toward the long-distance route on the ridge of the Ždánický les. Marked hiking trails also pass through the town. When choosing your route, you can consider both the cycle connection with its specific length and the hiking trails through the town. Check current trail conditions before setting out.
Chapel and Local History
The filial Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built between 1865 and 1869 and consecrated on 19 October 1869. A large staircase leads from Rašovice to the chapel. The nearby statue of Saint Florian dates from the second quarter of the 18th century. It is therefore much older than the chapel building and adds another historically datable feature to the local story. The construction period and consecration date provide a more precise context for the chapel’s origins.
Events and Local Experiences
In recent years, Dožatá has combined an exhibition of products with workshops, other activities and themed food tastings. The event therefore includes both the presentation of products and a range of hands-on activities and tasting experiences.
The Rašovický Gulášfest continued in 2026; the first goulash festival was held at Sokolka on 30 August 2025. At the 2026 edition, competing goulash dishes were cooked in cauldrons and offered to the public for tasting. If an event is important to your trip, check the dates for your chosen year in advance. In recent years, Dožatá has combined an exhibition, workshops and tastings; by contrast, the 2026 Rašovický Gulášfest focused on the cauldron-cooking competition and the public tasting the dishes.
