Stavěšice offers several concrete ways to explore local history and culture: the Chapel of Saint Florian stands on the site of a former meeting house of the Bohemian Brethren, while the museum, music and events add further local highlights. The Kyjov Wine Trail also passes through the village. When planning your stay, it is important to distinguish historical landmarks from offerings with fixed dates or those requiring prior arrangements. This will help you plan museum visits, church services and events as part of your trip.

Local history at the Chapel of Saint Florian

Stavěšice was first mentioned in 1389. Archaeological finds also point to settlement dating from before that year. In 1583, a community of the Bohemian Brethren built a meeting house in Stavěšice. The Chapel of Saint Florian stands on the site of this former meeting house; it was built in 1730 and renovated in 1998–1999. These dates mark different phases in the history of the same site: the construction of the meeting house, the building of the chapel and its later renovation.

Mass is held regularly in the chapel. If you would like to attend a service, check the current times with the parish, as service arrangements may change.

Museum and cultural events

The Stavěšice Municipal Museum has a varied collection of objects from Stavěšice and the surrounding area. It offers insight into both the village and its regional context. The museum is open during the krojované hody festival or by prior arrangement with the municipal office; plan your visit for one of these occasions.

The krojované hody is considered the biggest cultural event of the year. It takes place on the first Saturday in May following the feast of Saint Florian on 4 May; the exact date may vary from year to year. If you are planning your trip around the event, check the date for that year rather than relying on 4 May alone. Other events in Stavěšice include wine, slivovitz and spread tastings. The Babí lom cimbalom band has been based in Stavěšice since 2002 and performs at folklore and other events in the municipality and the surrounding area. If you are interested in a tasting or performance, check the current event dates.
