Syrovín brings together Baroque architecture, viticulture and recurring events. This gives you historical themes and specific dates to consider when planning your trip. The buildings differ considerably in age: the church dates from the early 18th century, while the chapels and fire engine date from the late 19th and 20th centuries. The annual calendar features events on specific dates in September and October.

Buildings and Local History

The Baroque Church of the Conversion of St Paul (Obrácení sv. Pavla) was built between 1713 and 1716. It was built at the expense of Pavel Jaroš, a priest from Syrovín. It is an architecturally valuable Baroque building in a prominent location. The exact construction period and funding by a priest from Syrovín provide two distinct historical points of reference: a date and a local connection.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows (Panny Marie Sedmibolestné) stands on the southern edge of Syrovín. It dates from 1888 and is listed as a cultural monument. The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes (Panny Marie Lurdské) dates from 1940 and is located on the road to Újezdec. There are 52 years between the two construction dates.

A restored fire engine from 1899 is displayed in a glass case opposite the municipal office. As an object related to firefighting history, it adds another aspect of local history to the religious buildings. Its date falls between the construction years of the two chapels, placing the vehicle in the timeline from 1888 to 1940.

Viticulture and Route

Viticulture in Syrovín had already attracted residents’ attention since the beginning of the 17th century. A municipal description reviewed in August 2026 names Burgundské šedé, white varieties or Ryzlink as the main varieties, grown on an area of 32 ha. Grape varieties and acreage may change.

The marked Bzenecká wine route passes through Újezdec, Syrovín and Těmice. It highlights a named route; the cultivation information, by contrast, refers to varieties and acreage in Syrovín. These two perspectives offer different points of reference if you are interested in viticulture and the connections between the three places.

Events Throughout the Year

The Císařské hody festival is held every year on the third Saturday and Sunday in October. The Sunday program includes a festive Mass at the local church. Exact dates may vary from year to year. If you are planning your trip around this event, check the information for the relevant year.

The Závod Velkou Moravou race is also held every year in September. It passes through the natural landscape of the Slovácko – Buchlovské hory (Chřiby) region, across fields, meadows and vineyards. Dates and arrangements for the race may change; here too, it is helpful to check the information for the relevant year. The two events differ in month and format: the Císařské hody pairs its October date with a festive Mass on Sunday, while the race takes place in September and passes through various types of landscape.
