Višňové offers travelers several distinct ways to explore the area: views from Stará hora, the ten stations of the Cesta spásy, and traces of its religious, technical and cultural history. If you are looking for a hotel in Višňové, you can first consider whether the landscape, religious themes or local history will be the main focus of your stay.

Stará hora: views and terrain

There is a viewpoint on Stará hora, north of Višňové. From there, you can look east toward the Pálava Hills, south toward Austria, north toward the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant, and west toward the villages in that direction. The four directions give the view a clear spatial structure; rather than taking in just one horizon, you can identify the landmarks mentioned with different sides of the compass. In 2019, the viewpoint was enhanced with a new viewing pavilion, a covered rest area for visitors, and an orientation map.

The “Výlet na Starou horu” excursion runs partly along a paved road and partly along a farm track. If you choose excursions based on the terrain, the change from paved road to farm track is a useful distinction.

A municipal project description from 2021 envisaged a future natural landscape area on Stará hora, with elements of a forest park and a viewpoint.

The Cesta spásy: ten stations

The initiative for the Cesta spásy began in 2024. The route consists of ten stations featuring large stone-block artifacts. Each station has a description with its number and name, a QR code with a legend, and the donor’s name. Unlike the viewpoint, which is described in terms of compass directions, the Cesta spásy divides its theme into a sequence of ten stations.

Church history, technology and music

The church “kostel sv. Jana Křtitele” contains eight Renaissance tombstones from the 16th and 17th centuries beneath the choir loft. Their location beneath the choir loft and their classification as Renaissance tombstones make this detail specific in both place and time. Višňové’s historic windmill highlights something different: its turbine dates from 1910 and originally powered a drinking-water pump. Thus, a religious-historical artifact from the 16th and 17th centuries sits alongside a technological use from the early 20th century.

Held annually, the Višňovská pouť ke svatému Janu Křtiteli brings together socializing, faith, music and traditions. Another musical example is the “Dobré víno a krásná hudba” event, where dulcimer music was played in 2024. The distinction matters for the timing: the Pouť is held annually, while the dulcimer music was part of an event in 2024.
