Droužkovice brings together distinctive architectural history, archaeological traces, local festivals and cycling routes. St. Nicholas Church and the Chapel of the Virgin Mary each offer a different architectural character. In the surrounding area, historical evidence spans from the Neolithic to the Early Iron Age; there are also events featuring music, a procession and water sports. This variety gives you specific points to consider when choosing Droužkovice as a travel destination.

A church and chapel with distinct architectural histories

St. Nicholas Church underwent major reconstruction in the second half of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century. During this work, a defensive upper level was added above the chancel, along with a polygonal tower with loopholes that served as a bell tower. The reconstruction turned the church into the fortified center of the village. Part of the surviving perimeter wall is more than 120 centimeters wide—a measurement that gives a clear sense of its massive construction.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary has a rectangular floor plan and a three-sided chancel. It once housed a wooden Baroque Pietà dating from the mid-18th century. Droužkovice thus features two distinct architectural themes side by side: at St. Nicholas, the defensive features shape the impression; at the chapel, it is the floor plan and the former Pietà. For those interested in cultural history, this comparison offers a distinct perspective on the town’s churches and chapels.

Archaeological traces in the surrounding area

The area around Droužkovice has been inhabited since the Neolithic. Archaeological finds from the landscape attest to trade links with the ancient Mediterranean world. An exceptional find from the Early Iron Age comes from the southern slope of Farářka Hill in Droužkovice. Together, this evidence offers several perspectives on the past: early settlement, trade links and a findspot identified by name from a later period.

Replicas of menhirs and revitalized ponds are also among the local attractions. Both were presented as points of interest during a guided village walk in 2025. Those interested in local features can include these topics in their exploration of Droužkovice alongside its architectural and archaeological history.

Festivals and events

Masopust features a procession through the village, refreshments for visitors, a satirical performance, live music and a raffle. The Fesťáček u vody folk and country music festival has been held at the local bathing area since 2000. At the 18th Droužkovické Vodní hrátky, teams compete in various water sports disciplines. If you plan to include one of these events in your trip, please check the current dates and program details in advance.

Cycling routes and a village route

A cycling route through Droužkovice connects the route from Kadaň to Žatec with other cycling routes toward Litoměřice. At the public CykloDen event, the 2025 route followed the cycle path connecting Spořice, Droužkovice and Březno. The fourth edition included checkpoints with a stamp card in each municipality. These details show two different cycling connections: a link between towns and onward cycling routes, and an event route through three municipalities.
