Discover Klášterec Nad Ohří
Accommodation in Klášterec Nad Ohří
Klášterec Nad Ohří offers a range of attractions for a stay: a castle and its collections, parkland, contemporary art, and spa and water activities. If you are looking for a hotel, consider which focus you would like to shape your trip.
Castle and Collections
The neo-Gothic Zámek a muzeum porcelánu castle stands on the banks of the Ohře and is Klášterec Nad Ohří’s most important landmark. The castle houses a porcelain exhibition drawn from the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. The Sala terrena in the castle grounds features sculptural works by Jan Brokof. Alongside architecture and porcelain, sculpture thus adds a distinct cultural dimension.
The Muzeum hodin focuses on a different collection: it holds antique clocks from a private collection, the oldest pieces of which date from 1580. In 2014, the museum opened a permanent exhibition of antique clocks. The dates refer to different things: 1580 to the oldest pieces in the collection, and 2014 to the opening of the exhibition.
Park and Contemporary Art
Zámecký park is a ten-hectare English-style landscaped park with 150 tree species from around the world. Its area and number of species offer two different ways to appreciate the park: ten hectares indicate its size, while the tree species reflect its botanical focus. In the northern part of the park is the chapel complex Sedm bolestí Panny Marie. It complements the landscape with sacred architecture.
Městská galerie Kryt presents contemporary Czech and international art in regular monthly exhibition cycles. Its focus on the present sets it apart from the historical collections in the castle and the Muzeum hodin. If a particular exhibition is important to your stay, check the relevant dates.
Spa and Water Activities
The Evženie spa complex includes a wellness area, swimming pool, whirlpool, infrared saunas, salt cave and sports facilities. It offers both wellness and bathing facilities as well as sports facilities, setting it apart from the cultural collections and exhibitions. You can buy Klášterecké oplatky at the information centre in the spa grounds.
The aquapark lies on the outskirts of town and is a seasonal facility with water attractions for children and adults; during the summer season, it is open subject to weather conditions. Its three slides are 28, 68 and 128 metres long, and are complemented by a children’s pool and diving tower. If the aquapark is important to your travel plans, check whether it will be open during your intended visit.
Nature Trail and Nature Reserve
The Cesta z města nature trail starts above Útočiště and follows the blue hiking trail markers in the direction of Měděnec. Another way to experience nature is Úhošť, a 114.5-hectare national nature reserve in the vicinity of Klášterec Nad Ohří and Kadaň. The two are distinct: Cesta z města is a nature trail with a marked route, while Úhošť is a protected area in the surrounding region.
