If you are looking for hotels in Litvínov, it helps to prioritize your interests in advance. The locations offer a variety of highlights, from historic buildings and swimming to ball sports, films and concerts. Consider whether architectural history, a green space, exercise or culture should be the focus of your stay.

Church and castle: Baroque architectural history

The early Baroque Church of the Archangel Michael was built between 1685 and 1694 to plans by J. B. Mathey and is a dominant landmark in the historic part of Litvínov. The complex includes the rectory at No. 38, a staircase leading from the square to the church’s main entrance, and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in the rectory courtyard.

Zámek Valdštejnů Castle is located at No. 1 Mostecká Street, near Míru Square. Its present-day Baroque appearance dates from a renovation carried out between 1732 and 1743, shaped by the architect František Maxmilián Kaňka. While the Church of the Archangel Michael was built between 1685 and 1694, the castle was renovated in the 18th century—a comparison of two Baroque building periods in Litvínov. The castle hosts exhibitions on sculptures by Stanislav Hanzík, the count’s cloth manufactory in Litvínov, and the history of Hush toy manufacturing in Litvínov. Green spaces and other architectural landmarks

Zámecký Park was laid out in the English style in 1878 and covers eight hectares. Its date of origin, design style and area offer different points of reference for understanding the park’s history and landscape. Voigtovy sady adjoin the rear of the Church of the Archangel Michael. For Zámecký Park, the date, English style and size are the main features; for Voigtovy sady, the distinctive spatial connection is to the church.

Smetanova Street is home to a group of five recently renovated Art Nouveau houses, built between 1901 and 1906. This adds an Art Nouveau ensemble with its own dates to the city’s Baroque architectural history. Koldům is a technical and architectural monument of European significance in Litvínov. These landmarks offer different perspectives on the city’s architecture, from the design of individual buildings to a technical and architectural monument.

Sports and cultural activities

A publicly accessible sports and leisure complex is located around Koldům. It includes a multi-purpose sports hall, a public outdoor swimming pool, and tennis and volleyball courts. For planning purposes, this offers several different types of leisure activity: indoor sports, swimming, and sports on the tennis or volleyball courts.

Koupaliště Litvínov has a 50-metre outdoor pool with a water slide. Its sand and grass play areas can be used for volleyball, handball, football or dodgeball. Facilities and available sports may change; check the latest information about the facilities before your visit.

Citadela Litvínov’s public programme includes film screenings, a film club, concerts and other events. The Loučky cultural and sports complex has a small and a large outdoor stage for concerts. The cultural offerings also differ: at Citadela, film events are part of the programme alongside concerts and other events; Loučky adds two outdoor stages to the selection. Check the dates before attending a specific event, as individual events may change.
